It's nonsense IMO. At any rate priority should be a defensive enforcer.

No! Priority should be a Top striker.

Our WHOLE philosophy is based on attacking football, Arsenal without a World Class Striker is a truely toothless animal.
I dont think Wenger can change his philosophy. We need the kind firepower we used to have to really make any progress - (its not like we're going to start keeping Clean sheets!)

Giroud is a decent CF but he's NOWHERE near the quality of striker this club has become accustomed to. (at best he's an Adebayor - Not an Henry or RVP)

Cavani would be amazing. Out of all the recent rumours (Huntelaar,Llorente etc..) he seems the least likley (because he would be the MOST expensive) - However the guy is a different Class and ready made for the EPL.

With a forward like Cavani we would finish CONSIDERABLY higher up the table.

He's certainly one of TOP 10 players in World Football - the guy has it all...Technique, Pace and Power.

Its just my opinion mind but in this day and age when you play such a high line with soo many players commited to getting forward your centreforward HAS to be TOP class to make it work.

Yes ****ing please, but it won't happen unfortunately.

He's the guy that I've wanted to see replace van Persie all along, and the only one who I think is capable.

Not going to happen, if we want a realistic quality striker, then it should be Llorente, he's fallen out with his club, they don't even play him now, so he's the one we should go after.

There's also a certain french goalie that may be available in the new year and looking for a step up in class...

    Just sayin'

We must offer Loris no 1 position with WS no 2. We need a goalkeeper able to organise and command the defence. WS is too young and as good as he is he lacks maturity and experience. Our defense needs organisation. Loris can do it. As for Cavani - just forget about it. Why on earth would he agree to join Arsenall ????

I thought spending the cash on Podolski and Giroud was supposed to be the replacement for Van Persie?

You don't buy strikers like that to fill the subs bench!

Well, Podolski was brought in to play alongside RVP.

Giroud was bought in as a replacement.

Seeing as Chamakh will likley go back to France we3 certainly have another CF spot available.

Dont get me, I would be VERY suprised if we went in for Cavani but I do think he would be worth every penny. The Club can afford it but it would mean going against our standard spending policy.

BUT it has to happen sometime. Sooner or later we are going to make a 'big money' swoop for a player because the money is there.

Saying all that less expensive options still worth considering could be..

Llorente(contract coming to an end this Summer) - could be a January 'bargain'.
    Huntelaar (same again)
Drogba (free- but HUGE wages and getting on a bit. Still make a great 'impact' sub and add some steel to the dressing room.)
Dzeko (has the best mins/goals ratio of any player over in the EPL last two Seasons. Unhappy with a lack of playing time at City.)

also whats the deal with David Villa at Barcelona?..still injured?

Problem with all of those possibly bar Lorentte is wages and in even in his case other clubs such as juv can offer him far more incentives. I still maintain Lopez and zaha are the only likely signings though i would love to see a dm.

I like Zaha, I have no doubt he'll be a quality player but my concern is that he would cost us 10-15 Million. Probably as much as Llorente or Huntelarr would cost us.

Cavani reminds me of Batigol. Him or Llorente would solve our problems. Dzeko would be a good buy too.

Agreed. It seems unlikley but as I've stated many times a big marquee signing is EXACTLY what the Club and fans need.

We tried to get Dzeko before the transfer window closed. One signing I am surprised Wenger didn't try in the summer transfer window, was Berbatov. Then I remembered we don't get players over 30....
