Really don't understand why we are not making a move for him. When he was with us him and Ash were a good cb partnership. The only real cover we have is bartley,I know Ben can play if needed but if he goes I feel it would leave us short at the back
Been told this morning that he has signed for QPR not sure how true. We have at the moment 4 centre halves. Ash, Chico, Amat and Bartley. Why do we need another?
Is he better than what we have, was in one of the leakest defnces in the league last year. i suppose we will find out this season wont we.
Williams and Chico are as giod as anyone else is got imo and Caulker would be 3rd choice for me , a very exspensive 3rd choice .if we want to spend a bit on defense lets find someone to give Rangel a run for his money .
Is this the same Caulker that was instrumental in costing his team a record number of goals last season? Don't say it was the players around him - he was directly to blame for a number of their goals through not picking up his man on set pieces - he'd be in good company with some of our defenders for sure. Yet another player who was a decent 'fit' for us but who wasn't that great elsewhere. Fully agree that he is well overvalued but at the right price he'd be a useful backup.
One man can't carry the dross he played along side , he went down to their level imo .With too much responsibility on carrying the defensive aspects , do you remember the game v Cardiff , he ended at times out on the right wing trying to push that lot on to try and create a meaningful attack
I think the criticism of Caulker is somewhat harsh, Rio Ferdinand just joined QPR and if they go down again whilst still conceding loads it doesn't make him a bad player as the others they have right now are utter rubbish. Bartley and Caulker are young and with our play could build a fine partnership. I would suggest overvalued is a matter of perspective, he is young and English so that raises his price tag... Perhaps all players like that are overvalued in the same sense. With Chico's future maybe a little uncertain I guess buying Caulker wouldn't be a bad idea for the current asking price and we'd see years of service, if he excelled and was bought by a bigger club then we'd make a profit.
Quoted as saying he want to play with Rio! Better chance of 'winning back' his England place if he's with one of the 'giants of the sport'. TBH - he had a decent season with them but no more, he is big and offers a presence. As soon as Harry moves on he'll find himself in another relegation battle. We have Ash and Chico who I would prefer (Ash if fit and putting in an effort) and Bartley and Amat are excellent understudies for another season before they take over - assuming Monk and Huw have learned to work with Spaniards.
Lol.... Garry and Huw are like a couple of fireships into the Armada . Always thought Caulker had it easy within our possession game and he was a"Big Fish" In a small school at Cardiff , how do you not shine a wee bit there .. How come he never got a chance at Tottenham? Would be money spent unwell in my books
All I ever said was go or stay when summer came .Seems every summer Ash , with agent in tow ,was stirring things up .Now if you want to pretend thats has anything to do with his playing ability , then enjoy .As Ive said before , Ash and Chico are as good as an duo in the league , regardless if either or or both are arseholes...
Yes I knew someone would say that Cardiff's demise was down to the players around him. Heard it all before. I didn't say he was "crap" but Caulker must take responsibility too and I can't see what the fuss is about with him. A classic case of an English player who is half-decent but over-hyped and overvalued. Decent defenders at this level are at a Premium and whereas he was very good for us he went downhill when he left so he's no different to lots of others. I watched quite a few Cardiff games and he was directly culpable on them shipping a lot of goals - absulutely awful at picking up his man at set pieces imo. But if he's "no better and no worse" than what we have why would we want him?
If Monk's policy of shipping out the Spanish contingent continues then we may want him .He's a good player with better ones around him ,which we have so why not ?
I thought he did well when he was here. but I do believe he is no better than anything we have in the squad. I wonder why Spurs let him go as they have been struggling defensively. Is it they dont see him as a future top defender and couldnt resisit the silly offer from cardiff.
