POYET: Cattermole out for three weeks Published: 31 January, 2015 by Oscar Chamberlain Head coach reveals midfielder will miss further three weeks. Lee Cattermole faces a further three weeks on the sidelines due to a knee injury, says Gus Poyet. The talismanic midfielder last featured in the 0-0 draw at Aston Villa on 28th December 2014, and tests on Friday confirmed that he will miss the bulk of February which includes matches against Swansea City, Queens Park Rangers, West Bromwich Albion and Manchester United. Speaking to safc.com Poyet revealed the news, before providing an update on the fitness of Wes Brown who missed Saturday’s 2-0 win over Burnley. “The news on Catts is quite positive. “He will be out for three weeks because sometimes with these injuries they go a little bit longer - when they do you fear the worst but fortunately he is going to be back in three weeks.” He continued: “Wes trained for a couple of days and it is nothing serious, so it is just about making sure he is 100% so that when we throw him in he is ready because I can tell you that it is very hard. “It is great for us because we now have a big squad and I can refresh the team if I need to, but of course the ones that performed at 3pm against Burnley will have a better chance next week.”
Chris young from the echo was spot on then! This is ****ing great news, can't see Gus changing it for the swans but good to see the most of the squad available. Gus please unleash the beast?!?!
Good to see Gus being sensible imo. Bruce would have played him before now and wrecked him for the season.
With just the change in style adopted it has relieved the pressure on having Catts in the team now. Im not as worried about this as i would of been if we were still playing too defensive as Bridcutt just is not the same level.
3 weeks is a damn site better than 3 months, or rest of the season, as feared. he'll be back in time for the defensively minded games against the big guns. hopefully this works out for Catts and us..
