Ive just heard a rumour our Catts is going to be frozen out the squad next season, and hes not even going to be given a number. Ill be very disapointed if this is true!
Yes he is very injury prone and hes a liability more often than enough, but as a team I think we play better when hes in it. We still need quality on the bench and id have him over Gards and Vaughan anyday of the week!

We are without a doubt a weaker team when Catts isnt in the squad. However, at the back end of last season i remember posting that i had heard a rumour that Catts, Wickham, another first team player (possibly either Killgallon or Bramble) and some youth team players were in the the dog house with Di Canio as they got caught with drugs.

I brushed it aside as Wickham was constantly included when fit in Di Canio's side and is still included now. With this coming to light and also Catts passed history of his days at Boro with the likes of Woodgate and Downing, i wonder if their is some truth to that rumour?

But isn't that the point, its not going to be that team anymore. It's going to be different style and he might not fit the model...

    Yeah but he might.

He can't expect to be club captain anymore, nor can he expect to start games but I refuse to believe that Paolo will freeze out an injured player without taking a look at him. Very sceptical of this rumour as I am with all the catts rumors.

A captain is the embodiment of the manager at all times

    PDC wants 100% professionalism

That rules out carttermole in my opinion. I used to defend him on this site, but my patience has run out with him now

I agree he shouldn't be captain but I think he should get the same clean slate everybody else has got regardless of his past imo. Has he put a foot wrong since he came in? Not that can remember anyway. If there's been a bust up it would have come out, it alway does.

There be enough stats at the club to tell him everything he needs to know about the player. PDC is known to do his homework so he'll have checked the sats, watched the video's and made his mind up on that basis. He's in a hurry to get his squad sorted for the start of the season and he'll know who he wants or not.

    That's if it's true.......

Alfie looks like hes on his way, and with Jack refusing a new contract we're suddenly light on defensive midfielders to cover for Cabal. Catts is still young, and I cant see why he wouldnt fit into any new system. We need sombody to protect the defence whatever tactics we play, and Catts does this well!

Not bothered me. Catts gets booked just about every game he plays and once he has been booked he is not very effective. Its a shame as I think PDC could turn him into a good player but he is too much of a loose cannon.

I trust PDC and if he signs better replacements then so be it.

Well if he has done that I'm sure he's seen all the qualities he brings as well. Nobody is the finished article or they wouldn't be at the club.

Besides even if he did want Catts out to bring others in then that same problem crops up

    He's injured.

on a personal note i would be sad to see catts go as he is a favourite of mine but pdc is the manager so would have to back him on this one.

I hope its pure bullshit. I love a fully fit Cattermole and think he'd be an asset to anyone from 7th down over. You cannot outplay Man City's midfield and be ****e! Fully fit he's an asset... But those words don't happen enough now!!

I fully agree with this. Problem is that in the last 4 years Catts has only played in just over 50% off all Sunderland league games and presumably picking up quite a handy wage for doing so. If he's on 40k a week.. he has cost Sunderland about 107k for every game he's played in!!!! (less fines)

For me we should sell him cheaply 3-4 million and buy 3 or 4 young De Fanti kids on 10-15k a week. I'm sure out of 4 we should get 1 decent prospect who should/could be as good if not better then Cattermole.
