Time for Catts and Bridcutt in the middle of the park at Arsenal:

    Mannone

    Bardo, Vergini, O'Shea, Alonso

    Johnson, Bridcutt, Catts, Ki, Colback

    Borini

Play it tight and catch them on the break?

Will be backs to the wall stuff for most of the game and I feel their strength is the midfield. These days we have better options on the bench so if we need width there is Giaccherini and Scocco or move Borini out there with Wickham or Altidore coming on up the middle. We have to keep the ball on the deck in Borini is up front but I fancy his pace against the big f**king German will cause problems. The way Alonso is playing these days bombing forward...he's not far short of being a winger.

The big clubs have suffered when we press them high up the field, to sit back would be suicide imo. But still, this is the match to play Catts and Bridcutt together I believe. I'd go

    Mannone
    Bardo---------O'Shea-------Vergini----------Alonso

    Bridcutt-----------Cats
    Ki

    Johnson----------------------------Borini
    Altidore

I'm going with TFP, I like that selection for this game. Enough in the middle to help the defence cope and enough attacking minded players to keep the arse defence honest.

I'd swap Borini and Altidore and then stick Giack in for Altidore personally but that would have my backing. One winger would leave the side wonky as fook.

I'd play that, have a feeling it will be Ki and Colback in front of Bridcutt though

I really like Alonso, his touch and his forward play, BUT he is not very quick and has been skinned a few times when running back towards our goal line, like Elmo getting the better of him.
I think Borini, who never seems to stop running, is essential on the wing to get back and back up Alonso when the opposition have a fast wide player, as Arsenal clearly do.
I think we could get something out of this!

Absolutely - it's much better to have players where you are thinking "Thye've both been playing well so it's difficult to drop either of them" rather than "Neither of them have done much so I'm not sure which to put in".

Personally I reckon it'll be the same as you said Bri - I'd prefer to see Borini up front and Giaccherini on the wing with Altidore on the bench but I think Gus will go with your team

I understand people wanting to drop Jozy, but we're playing very well in our set up with him in the team. Big Jozy is dropping short to allow others to push forward and it's really starting to click, our other two forwards are getting goals and assists as a result, unfortunately for Jozy being ordered to drop short is limiting his goal scoring opportunities. Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing <laugh>

Thing is, on his day he can be a great player and has looked like a player with an excellent first touch and vision. But more often he hasn;t looked like this - as I say - I think he'll play against Arsenal - he did tear Sagna a new one against them earlier in the season. If we play well then they can be beaten - they may come out with a "third bottom this will be easy" - but most of our first team are rested up after a week where we ade loads of changes. Cattermole should certainly not be dropped after the weekend's performance

Sometime towards the end of the season Altidore is going to have his 'break out game'....if it's this Saturday I would be happy to go with this team selection ;)

Me too, don't think he'll score though all the same<laugh>. I'll be happy if he maintains his recent form and keeps it up while Scocco gets to match fitness.

All selections above look good and it also leaves us with a decent bench. Would like Scocco and Borini to get a little time together on the pitch but whatever is chosen I expect 3 points. Coupon buster this weekend.
