Leeds United is delighted to announce that the club has re-purchased the catering and beverage rights for Elland Road Stadium and the Centenary Pavilion. Cellino “The Elland Road Stadium is another important asset that is high on the list of priorities for me to bring back into club ownership.” http://www.leedsunited.com/news/art...e/title/statement-club-re-purchases-catering?
No marque or "fantastic" signing so cloud it over with an announcement that we have brought the catering rights back... Surely not...
C'mon lads, we all know the crap Cellino inherited from Bates and GFH, he made a few statements out of excitement at the beginning, only to realise just how f..k.d up everything was later on, but he's learnt and is learning. He's slowly getting the club back on it's feet bit by bit, he's got rid of deadwood and not needed staff, he's got rid of bad managers/coaches and assistants, he's got us more financially stable, he's brought in some good players, brought in some good back room staff, got a decent coach and assistants (so far of course), he's got new shirt sponsors with a better looking kit, he's got a South stand sponsor (more to come), he's cooked for the players and stuck the middle finger up to the FA and the FL and not once has he had to replace the tea lady; what is it exactly some of you are looking for in an owner? Disliking Cellino is one thing, and that's your prerogative, but at least have the decency to give him credit for the good things he's achieved.
Cellino brought up the subject of purchasing ER back, he hasn't learned a lesson in the slightest on that front, have a read of this article, a fair review of how the average fan feels... http://www.thescratchingshed.com/2015/07/cellino-addresses-broken-promise-and-good-commercial-news/? --------------------------------- He’s right, of course. I agree wholeheartedly that Elland Road is an important asset that should be high on the list of priorities – as does every other Leeds United supporter I know. The trouble is, we also agreed with it a year and half ago when Massimo Cellino first promised to buy the ground back within a few days of taking over, a statement that must surely haunt him at this point. After all this time, it now sours any review of Cellino’s ownership of the club. It’s not that I don’t want to hear positive noises coming from the powers-that-be, but I’m a ‘once-bitten, twice shy’ kinda guy and this simply reminds me of a promise that wasn’t delivered; a promise that, in my opinion at least, was the biggest factor in fans accepting Cellino in the first place. Perhaps I’m being a little harsh and it’s because he’s failed to deliver on that promise that he felt it needed to be addressed. But without announcing any progress has been made or the deal will be completed soon (or even once X and Y has been achieved), I feel mentioning it was something of a misstep and he’s better off keeping quiet on the Elland Road issue until he can announce the stadium is back in club hands.
The fact we are discussing signings and not when we go bust, deserves some credit, while we will never move as fast forward as we would like, the fact we are not going in reverse is the best we have had in a very long time.slowly yes but we are going forward.
To be fair we are our own worst enermies on that one,we want to know everything about our club and why,if he didn't tell us we would be up in arms.
True but like the guy at the Scratching Shed said, why bring it up again. I was one of those fence sitters when Cellino was waving the cash, his promise to buy ER back was what got me onside. I do agree though, a pleasant change to be discussing players and not financial woes and embargo's.
Ristac, think of it this way, Cellino buys the ground back and GFH's shares skyrocket, Cellino knows that.
LL. See your point but by that logic, Cellino's money gets us promoted GFH's shares skyrocket....... so why bother going for that???
WJ. They were for a while but it reverted back to 75-25% soon after. Can't remember why it changed for a short time but Phil Gay and Adam Pope reported it going back to the original split.
Hmmm. I'm talking about something more recent. I believe that Pearson is now a shareholder, and got his shares from them. We had a thread on here recently that covered it, I'm sure. Probably someone like TC that uncovered it.
You could well be right but I've seen nothing since it was confirmed that the shares had reverted to the 75-25. If you're right though what prevents Cellino from carrying out his promise on ER?
I haven't read anything on it WJ, but you could be right if Redders and Lucy forgot to leak that info........
