When it was announced Cash Converters would be our shirt sponsor, I was quite skeptical. I thought the brand would tarnish the name of the club, and with the way the city of Hull is percepted by alot of the country it doesn't do wonders for the look of the city (which doesn't affect me but I can see it from your lots point of view). Was that the main issue with it, the fact that alot of people naively associate Hull with crime and disorder without bothering to find out for themselves, and that Cash Converters with amplify that though?

But a month and a half into the season, I'm starting to change my mind a little. So far I've had no one from my area, or in fact anyone give me stick about it (which I was expecting to get quite heavily) and nothing on here aside from the odd couple of numpties. It seems as if the only people who are bothered and see the logo on the shirt in a different light is us.

I believe Cash Converters are paying pretty handsomely for their sponsorship, and although they are primarily advertising themselves, we have to be grateful for that. They also seem to be taking the sponsorship fairly seriously, with all these half time games etc. and even the plane and banner on the opening day, which although was fairly pointless it was a nice gesture to wish us luck. Although I still wouldn't wear the shirt myself, I find this sponsorship growing on me, and I believe on others too, as the number of this seasons tops I see around the KC is growing. I think if we had turned down the deal, there would be a number of clubs waiting in the wings who would snap it up without hesitation.

I just thought I'd share my change of heart and attitude towards the sponsor, and see if anyone else is starting to change their minds too.

EDIT: Just another thought, it would be interesting to know what the players and clubs staff think of the sponsor if anyone can find out. OLM?

    Pearson out!

It is early days yet. I never envisaged stick from other fans being much of a threat. The threat comes from being associated with them if you get tv programmes like watchdog to name but one running a piece about their exceptionally high loan rates which are usually paid by those who cannot get credit elsewhere.

Bunch of Aussie Shylocks, the establishment and growth of whose 'enterprise', is a reflection of the decline of our economy.

Give me the Empire and the British East India Company! :emoticon-0103-cool:

Thought this was a Franchise type of thing. I wonder if the Hull franchise is owned by a local guy. Does anyone know? :emoticon-0112-wonde

Absolutely no problem with'em! Cash Convertors are nothing more that glorified Pawn Brokers - the guys with 3 balls dangling - I just wish ours would just grow the ones they've got and score more goals!

You're right - it's a franchise operation. Don't know who runs the Hull one(s?) though. Saw or heard a rumour that the guys who set it going, in Oz, were originally Hull guys. Don't know if that's true though...(the Wiki entry might say - I didn't read too far!)

    I still maintain that:

    1) No other fans give a crap about our sponsorship
    2) The majority of the rest of the country doesnt either know where Hull is, or in fact care, let alone have opinions on the city like crime etc. In fact most people that have actually heard of Hull probably think its a main fishing port.
    3) CC's money is as good as anyone elses.

Of course most supporters of other clubs are unconcerned about our sponsors.

I would suggest the majority of the country (well those with at least a basic education) know where Hull is FFS - that said the younger generation don't know the geography of most parts of their own country and fewer still relate Hull as being a fishing port these days.

I too was skeptical but as you point out they have sponsored/created an entertaining half time game, regularly issued city related comments through there facebook page. And most pleasingly

I got a phone call the other we and the bloke on the other end said hello this is cash converters to which I though "Oh here we go, no thanks Im not interested cant city have given season ticket holders numbers out to them to cold call us" but he said would you like 2 tickets to the crystal palace game. I was a bit taken back and great fully accepted.

Has anyone else been given a pair of free tickets from cash converters ?

I agree those who where worried about it are delusional, i could barely name the other Championship sides sponsors, and i doubt many of us could. When we see other clubs sponsors so we associate that City with them? No. I just see it as another club getting money, as i do with us.

I bought three, home, away and keeper . All for my nine year old boy .

    Don't you remember ?
You called my wife a **** for not being overly keen on letting him wear anything with Cash Converters on the front .

Now you're saying you won't buy one ?

Is it because it has Cash Converters on the front , that would be awfully hypocritical , wouldn't it ?
I'm guessing it's because you're skint you ****ing half wit .
Do you work Doveston ? I only ask because I know they were looking at closing down Remploy .

Most people don't know whats in their own county let alone the country...seriously, I doubt anyone outside of Hull and about 50 miles could pin point us on a map of the UK.

Was watching Coach Trip the other day and the trainee teacher on it thought Zurich was in Russia, no wonder the countries going down the pan with educators like that in the system!

Wish people wouldn't talk to this Doveston character, have massive chunks missing from the screen because of the ignore function. Am guessing his posts amply illustrate the failure of the education system in this country anyhow, to stay on topic.

Grow some balls . Ten out of ten for that one .

'oooooh please don't single me out '

To be honest Doveclown that really disappointed me .
I was expecting more from Not 606's resident hard man.

My wife is fairly stuck up ,I'll
give you that. She's from wealthy stock you see and if I say so myself she's quite a fine filly .

Please shed some light on your other half .
I'm sure he's a lovely bloke deep down , he must be to put up with a dole scrounging quarter wit like you .

Doveston is the village idiot that's for sure. As for Cash Converters, they seem to be quite pro-active with their sponsorship which is a good thing I suppose.
