Does anyone know what the current situation is with our main sponsor - cash converters? I think they had the option for another year. However, now we are back with the big boys are we free to look for a new main sponsor?

I understand City will now look for a new sponsor if possible. I suppose it depends on how much the Cash Converters contact is worth, but I certainly hope we get a new name on our shirts.

I remember someone saying cash converters took up their option on the extra year, but that nick Thompson was looking at ways of getting out of it and a better sponsor.

I doubt it will happen, cash converters will probably want a pay off and the extra we'd gain from any other sponsor probably wouldn't make up the shortfall. I also seem to remember when the CC sponsorship deal was announced, the figures for the sponsorship if we got promoted during the time were quite handsome.

Either way I expect they'll be on our kits next season.

It will depend on the terms of the contract, so nobody on here will be able to answer that.

You would think Cash Converters would not be so stupid to give an easy out from this deal. They've got the dream ticket - pay us fook all when we were desperate and now they get their name to the biggest regualr tv audience in the world. I'd suggest we're stuck with them.

Who was it who I had running arguments with on here when they defended our former CEO Mark Mcguire at all costs as i said he was a dodgy **** who stitched us up massively, signed a **** deal with Cash Converters and then blamed it on company cars whilst he himself was handing out company cars left, right and centre? It was only a matter of time before he was sacked and then the defender soon disappeared. Funny eh?.....

More Wonga from them or we look elsewhere surely ?. I doubt that we shall be lacking offers from elsewhere. <ok>

I wonder if we can get King Fut to sponsor the Egyptian lads ? <whistle>

Do you know how a contract works? We cant just get promoted and negotiate new terms. Cash Converters have got the dream ticket thanks to Mcguire, why would they pass this up now?

I got the impression from Nick Thompson, that though Cash Converters had exercised there option of another year, the club had some options to change things if we were promoted.

I've no idea of the details, but I assume that the contract can be renegotiated after promotion, so that's what we'll be doing and if they don't meet the revised cost, presumably we've got a get-out.

CC did take their option of a 3rd year.

NT did say he thinks we might be able to get out of it. Though I don't understand how.

Thinking about it, presumably if we breached the contract by say, failing to prevent fans from covering up their adverts with flags, all they could do was take away their money. Right? So maybe we can just stop fulfilling our oligations to them and let them take their money away, since their money is worthless considering what others will offer us? What could CC do about that?

I have no specialist knowledge of stuff like this so I'm just thinking out loud.

Surely, but surely Cash Converters will have a pre-agreed rate should we get promoted during the duration of the pre existing contract? If not, then they are absolute ****ing idiots.

Yes i do know how a contract works thank you. Like you i am not previe to the finer points of it though Nor is anyone on here.

It was a tongue in cheek comment which sadly went over your head.

I would think that the £120m due from the TV deal alone will compensate for any short fall from Cash Converters like.

I very much got the impression from Nick, that there is no fixed deal in place following promotion.

Which is, as you've said, fairly mental.

If he was, you'd be able to take in £10 worth of heroin and swap it for £30 worth of jewellery.

Just like to say i am NO fan of Cash Convertors. But at a time when no one came in with a better offer other then them. Shouldn't we honor the contract rather then try to worm out of it?

No. Though based on their tweets today, it doesn't look like they think they're going anywhere...

I think there is an obvious sponsor lurking in the background and if we do get out of the Cash Converters deal, I wouldn't be surprised to see Infiniti on our shirts.

You're starting to sound like duffen <yikes>

"It's ok, we've just scored £100 million, we'll just take it out of that"

I'd sooner have cash converters than chuck money away.

How much is the initial figure of money that we will recieve over the summer, that we'll have available to spend excluding parachute payments and potential league finish bonus?

People are talking like we have £120m to go splash on players in the summer, it's not like that.
