Is it just me or did anyone else think that Carver's interview saturday seemed to intimate that if he was just a quick fix till the summer that he would be likely to turn it down.

Yesterday, Rangers Caretaker Manager decided to setp down and I wounder how much more will Carver take? Is there the potential that if a player is sold and no-one else brought in, that Carver might show more of a spine then Pardew and step down?

Remember Carver has 4-5 years of that 8 year contract left. I reckon he will be on around £200k a year so that's around £1m at stake if he walks.
If he is sacked there will be a break clause of around £200k so the bottom line is... would he risk potentially £200k for pride by walking? I honestly don't think he would.
He will sit it out and if he doesn't get the job full time he'll wait for the new guy to hand him his cards.
On the wider subject of Carver I don't think for one minute he is capable of even mid table management in the Premiership.
He didn't set the world alight at Toronto one bit.
He's like Brian Kidd for me... a reasonable number 2 but out of his depth as the main man.

I would debate your reasonable number 2 comment, footballs moved on since he was a lad and just from little snippets ive seen, his a bit of a dinosaur

I don't even think he is a number 2. Just another parasite who needs purging along with Woodman and Stone.

    I wouldn't even say parasite goes far enough. He's a ****.
Stone and Woodman - They both need to disappear as well. Start afresh with some better coaches. Ashley probably won't though.

From the level of coaching at Newcastle I would argue that currently no one within the backroom is even near capable of managing the club, in fact I would say no one in our backroom is capable of managing in the championship, that would be too high a level.
I stand by the stance that we have the worse back room in the prem by a country ****ing mile.

    I agree.

Stone has no previous experience, Carver is too emotionally involved to make reasoned decisions and Woodman is far to overweight to be a goalkeeping coach. I just want a complete shake up to everything about our coaching set up.

    Agree.

You just have to look at our set pieces. The same horse consistently flogged.

I too don't think Carver is a good coach or No.2. Just look at our defensive play, free kicks, corner kicks etc during last 4 years. absolutely no improvement in that time.
Here's hoping if he turns down a bench warmer until the end of the season he takes Stone & Woodman with him.
I see we've lost Ben Stevens ( Analysist ) to Pardew. Hope the clear out has begun.

What exactly would it mean to step down as caretaker manager ?

If he said "I'm not going to manage any more I am just going to do my job as first team coach" exactly what would he stop doing ?

You are right. There are not many other managerial requirements at NUFC. You don't have to worry about transfers as Mike will have a hissy fit if you even mention it. So really its just working on your headbutting for next weeks game and abusing opposition managers.

He doesn't have to sit in the meetings?
