http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=20256&title=carson_agrees_deal The good news keeps on coming! All we need to do now is to get Luke Hyam on a longer term contract and its happy days!
The only thing that makes my fine head of hair stand on end is: “Paul Jewell has confirmed that midfielder Josh Carson has agreed his new contract and is set to put pen to paper this afternoon or if not in the next couple of days.” PJ has come out with this sort of thing before, usually with imminent signings. I won’t be happy until it’s done. But yes – excellent news. I had my worries about him signing. As far as the good news goes, it’ll stop on Saturday if my plans to get to Brighton come off. I am a terrible curse on our away form. I’ve seen them win away once in my whole life and I was so young I can’t sodding remember it. It’s why I’m called “Jonah”, after all, despite what some might say.
Good news . It would be good to sort out the contract situation with Edwards now . PJ did say these things wont be left to the last minute . I for one would be very happy if CE does sign a new contract . Thoughts coyb
I don’t mind Edwards signing for an extra year as long it’s not to be our number one right back and because we’re definitely in the Championship (at best) next year. It sounds like his pay will be based to a reasonable extent on appearances, which at least is some consolation. He’s another one that’s had more indifferent-to-poor days than good ones since he got here, but has been decent recently (like Martin, it’s taken him two and a half seasons). If we were pushing for promotion there might not be much point, but in our current position another season in the Championship he MIGHT be worth it. Always bearing in mind he’s been pretty much an ever-present during some of the most dire times and pathetic performances in our history. Recent good displays mustn’t distract entirely from that. He wasn’t all that when Keano was playing him in his proper position (now THERE’S an idea) and he’s largely been worse since PJ has been playing him out of position. He and Leadbitter were last minute panic-buys from Sunderland once Keane had tumbled his big money summer signings (Martin, Priskin and Delaney) were a waste of space (at least in their intended positions) and both of them have since, in the main, played like last minute panic buys. Neither have looked like they belong here. Not to me anyway. Keano squad building at its best. We can at least hope that his recent form will continue, especially if he’s around for yet another year. And given the overhaul we need and can’t afford, it’s not like we can be fussy.
I wouldn't mind him signing another contract based on appearences tbh. Defensively he's not great but I actually think he's been alot better since Jewell has come here. Going forward I think he's more affective at RB than he ever was playing on RM. With 2 decent CB's I think he'd be ok, unfortunately we haven't really got 1 decent CB
It's done! http://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/i_was_always_going_to_sign_says_josh_carson_1_1218340 "The EADT revealed on Wednesday that the 18-year-old was close to finalising terms and he has today put pen-to-paper to end any speculation about his future."
