Would have been a joke if it had been overturned after they threw a massive strop about it, frankly whilst its a soft red there no reason to overturn it. If it had been overturned it would have undermined the system as a whole.
I don't want to jinx us so I won't say anything, but good news yes. Surely we are due some good luck!
I must admit, I'm glad it wasn't overturned, but only because that would have opened the floodgates to enormous amounts of silliness! The red card itself was absolutely preposterous!
Yeah, whilst it perhaps should have been overturned, if West Ham could just threaten legal action and get something overturned, then it'd be happening every week. Can someone clarify for me, was this the legal action that West Ham threatened, or did the FA organise this second tribunal themselves to prevent legal action? Could this still go further, or is this it?
Flores is an absolute bloody disgrace for all his theatrics afterwards! He should have been banned for bringing the game into disrepute! Cheating twats like that bring nothing but ridicule on the game we all love. He should have been punished and a clear message would be sent out that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated! Yet again the bunglers in blazers who run the FA have failed in their duties to protect the image of the game. Getting a fellow player sent off is the lowest of the low and believe me in parks football he would have got a right good kicking if he tried anything like that!
It was a bit soft but there was definite intent in the arm movement - a little jerk on the follow through if you excuse the expression !!!
Can you imagine if this cheating t**t was playing against Big Duncan Forbes and he tried something like that on Big Dunc? He would be eating his food through a straw for the next couple of months!
According to the BBC, the tribunal reviewing its original decision is the final stage of the FA procedure. And West Ham have said they will abide by the review decision.
Dunc would certainly have given him something to 'go down' for, as would would have a certain Mr. Hunter. I think your namesake might have had something to say about it as well JWM
Following football since the 1970s some of these players today wouldn't have lasted five bloody minutes with those guys. The last thing you would have done is try and take the piss that's for sure! Forbes, Hunter, Beattie would have given him something to cry about!
On a selfish note I am very pleased that Carroll will not be lining up against us but I would have happily have seen his ban overturned and given to cheating Chico for bringing the game into disrepute. It would be good if the managers showed a bit of spine and dropped the player cheating for the next game and I accept that bj should also have had this done for his play acting. That sort of behaviour just kills games and needs to be stopped
I am delighted that the 'appeal' fell flat because as has been said it would have opened the floodgates to the courts and the game needs that like a hole in the head.
I'm only a young 'un so I never got to experience the real bruisers of the game from back in the day but I wish football was more like that today. The way the players are always looking to hit the floor as soon as possible, it just goes against the real spirit of the game in my opinion. When I play, I give my all, if someone knocks me away from the ball I'm going to go back and get it, not lie there feeling sorry for myself. It's just pathetic watching these people who are paid outrageous amounts of money complaining and whining and falling over at every opportunity! It really is ruining a sport I love to watch.
