Villa in for him apparently now. With West Ham's failed bid, it got me thinking: Without a debate on Carroll himself, what bid would be acceptable for him? We rejected £17m from West Ham apparently. IMHO if we get £20m (which BR is allowed to then reinvest) we should sell. Thoughts?
Agreed but where does that see Bent? Would they work well together? HOw would the front three of Carroll, Bent, and Agbonlahor work? Questions not for us if they offer 16-20 million.
as a starter? Fair enough. But if you mean as a sub then Carroll, as he is at the moment, is a pricey sub for us in our current frugal state, especially if we can get around £20m for him
We need to move fast if we are going to move him on, the window will be closed soon and we need a a main striker at the club! I think Andy can be that man, but if BR wants to go another way. I will back him.
I just think it is becoming apparent that we do need someone that can do it now and if he has to be shipped on so be it, only as long as the replacement can do the business or at least fits the style. Tough on Carroll but that is the risk you run with changing of managers and what they want in a CF.
Is yesterday not indication enough that we need a plan B? Why sell Carroll - we may need a player like him.
No, not at all! The philosophy Rodgers is implementing has no room for Plan B. It's all or nothing. You can't suddenly go from passing and possession to hoof and counter! I'd prefer us losing but playing to BRs philosophy than losing with some messy and unattractive Plan B
sta ima danilo. I have to agree with red here, Carroll is on and it is hoofing time. Just grates me that it seems natural for us to do it. The reason he also looked good in the summer was because of Hodgson, hoof, 4-4-2. If his selling helps get in someone mentioned above, then I am all for it. Just don't seem him being here after September 1 and if he is then I hope he works hard and bangs the goals in to prove me and others wrong but somehow I doubt it.
Well obviously but how often did Carroll bury balls from whipped crosses (from one of the few who can cross in the team) last season?
Would he have even been in the box? He has a penchant to roam everywhere but be inside the one area he is needed. if he stays I hope he works hard to prove us wrong but I won't be bothered to see him go, IF we buy an adequate replacement.
Unfortunately those come once in a blue moon. Suarez is far more likely to score by himself than that Carroll/Gerrard combo ever happening again
Ok, we are going to see things differently but again, different formation and style that suited him. Our current one will be much more difficult for him. I still want someone who can bring a little extra to the table but can also work with plan A, and if it doesn't work, can also create on his own.
