15m fee has been agreed now its apparently up to Carroll himself if he wants to go. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/may/21/andy-carroll-liverpool-west-ham 20m loss on the player, but with no future at the club and pretty high wages, it seems like a solid move. He has done well for West Ham and deserves to play.
If we don't sign a centre back who can head the ball he'll ****ing murder us from set pieces next year guaranteed I wanted Rodgers to give him a chance but wasn't to be. Good luck Mandy
Thank god for that!! Phew. The main remnant of our previous shocking transfer policy is on his way. Just Downing now. On a personal note all the best Andy.
Not sure if I'm happy or annoyed tbh. Part of me still thinks he would have come good for us with time and 15mill is a massive loss, other part says BR would never play him and 15mill is about the best we could hope for right now. Oh well, 15mill more to play around with this summer. One and a half more fords please
£15m is bloody good bit of business. It is more than what he is worth. I would have accepted £12m. Never Thought we'd get more than this
i shrug my shoulders. if we got 2mil for last season (not sure who paid what wages mind) and 15mil now i suppose thats about as much as you could hope for. injured when bought, injured when playing, injured when on loan. A bit of form at the end of seasons. I agree lesson should be learned big time. I am unsure he really wants to go there but hey, if 15mil is agreed then newkie at least must match it right?
Its not a £20m loss! When a players contract expires they are worth nothing. Carroll was never going to get another contract so his value started at £35m and it ends at £0 he played 18 months for us before going to West Ham for 12 months (freeing up his wage). divide his cost by the 5 years of his deal = £7m a year 2.5 years as a player has gone = 17.5 That means the value left in his contract is £17.5m we get £15m transfer fee Loss = £2.5m
Who gives a **** about the £35m, it is in the past and there is nothing we can do to change it. We need to look at the now and the future! PS...if true, snap their ****ing hands off
Or..... We bought Torres for £20m We bought Carroll for £35m We sold Torres for £50m We sold Carroll for £15m £10 million profit!....cough cough....we'll put the wages spent against Torres goals for us lol
I've got mixed thoughts on this one as I thought he would be a good plan B, mind you £35m plan B is v expensive. I'd feel much better if Monaco said £20m nd Newcastle said £23m. (Holds hands and prays 🙏
As a Hammer I hope this deal goes through, he's been magnificent for us, the £35m price-tag has made people expect a Messi. Carroll v Torres, Carroll, hands down, he makes things happen, when he was injured our form dived horrendously, soon as he came back we started winning again, if we get him and someone who can play off him we'll be end even higher in the table next year
Bozz is actually correct, that is how players are valued by the club on their accounts. Its the same for any businesses assets, its called amortisation.
He plays to your teams philosophy and you play to his strengths. He will always do a job for you but a number 9 for us, he just won't do. You look at all the number 9's acrss the champions league this year and how far behind Carroll is from them ( and many he is only a year or two younger than).
wasn't convinced by his body language when he got interviewed last game of season on motd that he wanted to go to the hammers, but i should imagine we will get close to that from other teams any way, or just below. either way looks promising that we wont be lumbered with him. bet he ends up at Everton
