Sky Sports has learned that Andy Carroll does not want to leave Liverpool on a permanent basis and would only reluctantly consider a loan move.
Sky Sports News reporter David Craig has been speaking with sources extremely close to the England international following several days of speculation over his future.
Brendan Rodgers admitted earlier this week that a loan exit was a possibility for the £35million forward, with West Ham, former club Newcastle and AC Milan all linked with his services.
But Carroll is settled on Merseyside and feels he has built a good relationship with the players and supporters and has a lot of respect for new manager Rodgers.
    Prove
The 23-year-old would only entertain the possibility of moving away from Anfield if it was a loan deal where he could prove his worth to the former Swansea manager before returning to his parent club.
However, Liverpool are understood to not be interested in a temporary exit and are waiting to see if any of the clubs who have been linked follow up that interest with a concrete bid.
Carroll, who was included in England's Euro 2012 squad and scored in the victory over Sweden, has managed just six Premier League goals in 42 appearances following his January 2011 arrival from Newcastle.
His future at Anfield has been cast into further doubt by the recent arrival of forward Fabio Borini from Roma as Rodgers looks to make his mark on the squad he inherited from Kenny Dalglish.

Sorry think we would get steam rolled in midfield, and we would be very susceptible to any sort of pace, but saying that I am not a pro manager and if I could sort that i would not still be sat here trying to repair the same effin binoculars. I really hope AC gets given a chance by Brendan Rodgers tho.

Switch borini and suarez and that looks about right, dont know if aqua will stay but if he does he could be a pivotal player in the way we play. Pretty strong starting 11 that, we now need quality depth

I also think we need a player of the Yaya Toure/Ramires mould who can cover an unreal amount of ground box to box

  6. I'm not predicting a true side until closer tot he seasons start but, if I was to play along to your game, I'd go with a 433:

    Reina
    Johnson - Skrtel - Agger - Enrique
    Gerrard - Lucas - Aquilani
    Suarez - Carroll - Borini

Possibly swap Carroll for Bellamy or Downing and move Borini into the middle. Suarez's best position is RF, lets make the most of it <ok>

I feel we can get away with it because Suarez and borini are in the side, and they both work hard to cover the midfield, and Johno and Eniq could bomb down the wings. Not sure on Aqua to be honest, think rodgers is looking to bring someone in for that spot!

  8. I think Aquilani is the perfect fit for the style Rodgers will have us playing, I also think Aquilani will be back in Italy come 1 September <ok>

We presently have only 1 striker. We cannot rely on Borini - he's only 20 years old and has no Premiership experience. To even consider loaning/selling Carroll at this point is just plain madness. Neither Bellamy or Suarez are true strikers.

  11. Rodgers has said he is willing to play without strikers and he did it last season at Swansea (went under the radar with them be a "smaller club" (no disrespect intended)). Can't say I am keen on that idea but wouldn't be surprised if we didn't go into the season without an array of options upfront.

I still don't believe the Carroll stories but wish someone from the club would speak out. I'm all for the laundry in private but this is different IMO

I totally agree that things are getting beyond a joke and in the interests of all concerned a statement needs to be made.

For me, Rodgers would seriously go down in my estimation if he actually rejected Carroll before he has even seen him on the training pitch! If you look at what Spain did in the Euros you will see that they did have a second rate striker in the form of Fabregas. As for Barcelona, the loss of Villa certsinly did not help either their league or CL performances.

  13. The loss of Villa hampered Barcelona and Spain but the latter was able to get away with his loss.

I still think it was awful treatment for Negrado and Llorente, neither kicked a ball in the tournament <doh> Torres must have been pretty annoyed too <laugh>

re requiring guy to do the running... his name is henderson. develop him.

but the main point. let me translate here. Carroll has gotten advice from his agent and he is making damned sure its rodgers who forces him out so every penny of loyalty bonus comes his way. privately he might be quite happy to go and get a big pay off elsewhere again but publically he'll be very positive in his comments.

Rodgers started it, he should move the guy on quickly now.

So you know what both Carroll and his agent are thinking? Then I think that you should present your source.

We have been over this ground before. Neither you nor I actually know what Rodgers opinion is regarding Carroll's future. The only definitive statement that we have is "Andy knows exactly where he stands". The rest is speculation.

Or maybe he has settled after 18months, realised being at LFC gives him a better chance of winning things and gets him closer to the England squad. Maybe he's spoken to his agent and said...I don't wanna move.

Certainly I can't help thinking that when The Echo is saying we'll entertain offers (sale not loan) that BR really isn't wanting him around and frankly I find that harsh and short sighted. It also brings me back around to the subject of transfer funds...will BR have to sell him at a big loss because its the only way he can fund the players he wants? If he has a budget of 30mill as people keep trying to convince me he has then why does he need to sell AC at all? We've lost two high earners in Kuyt and Maxi and brought in a player who I presume will be on lower than either of them and if Dempsey came in he'd practically pay for his own wages in shirt sales across the pond so why would we need to sell?

I agree, if we can find him a club that will play him each week. And we get 15/20million back then i would let him move on!
If not, let him stay and fight for his place. And give us another option.

I believe LFC are only interested in a loan deal if it is financially favourable to us. I think we have learnt from our mistakes of previous loan deals. A permanent deal is preferrable.

You can argue that Borini isn't ready but I think he still play an important part just by working hard, closing down and pressing the opposition. And I think it's rather naive to think that just because a player doesn't have any PL experience, that it will take him time to settle and therefore unreliable. Need I remind you that Downing, Henderson, Carroll and Adam all struggled last season depsite having said experience.

I do agree that it would be rather silly to get rid of Carroll with no replacement but I'm sure Rodgers will be working on this.

The way I see it is that Rodgers sees Carroll as a Plan B at best. Now is it worth keeping a 'Plan B' or using the money from the sale to improve his 'Plan A' attack.
