Andy Carol, £35,000,000, Becks and Nugent, £2,000,000 between them. Nuff said really! I dares say Liverpool would have already won the CC Final had they have had Cardiffs front two!
Andy Carroll is shocking. People bang on about Fernando Torres but we all know Torres on top form like he was for Liverpool is probably worth 50M. But Andy Carroll is never worth 35M in a million years
Andriy Shevchenko 35M Juan Serbastian Veron 30M Francis Jeffers 12M Alberto Aquilani 20M Edin Dzeko 30M Darren Bent 24M Andriy Arshavin 20M Fernando Torres 50M Andy Carroll 35M Jordan Henderson 20M All of them are a complete waste of money. Can anyone think of others who havent failed massively to live up to their price tag
I can think of a couple at about £5 million But in all fairness proud the money spent on your list would clear our national debt! Well almost
If i was an owner of a football club i would never in a million years spend 20M+ on 1 player. Arsenal never spend beyond their means and years ago they proved it does work. Arsene Wenger has found so many bargains over the years (Viera, Van Persie, Henry, Fabregas, Overmars, Petit, Anelka) and you look at the other tops clubs spending millions on idiots time and time again.
I think of players like Izzet, Lennon and Savage and how little they cost, it's just nuts and yet Arsen gets criticised for not blowing £40 mill on someone who's not known in this country!
I don't think there is anything wrong with spending money (as long as you have it to spend that is). What matters is how you spend your money that's important. If you spend it well, then there is no problem. If you look at Man City, no one says anything about the likes of Yaya Toure (£25 million), David Silva (£24 million) or Sergio Aguero (£38 million) because it was money well spent. Interesting you mention Arsenal because I can't help but feel that if Wenger had spent a bit more (for instance on a centre-half), not ridiculous over-spending, they could have had success recently but because he has been so reluctant to pay what it takes to get the players you need sometimes, I would argue it's cost them. If you look at us this season we spent around the same as West Ham but because they spent it well, nobody draws attention to it but because we didn't spend it well, we get all the 'waste of money' jibes. And another one for your list; Robinho for Man City
Arsenal have not only spent money within there means on players, but apparently will have paid for the Emirates within the next year. Have hated Arseole Winger with a passion ever since he came out with **** about us in a cup tie at Highbury - saying Martin O'Neill came to defend and play for a replay - despite the fact we threw Matt Elliott up front for the last 20 minutes to make it 3 forwards. So glad we knocked em out on penalties in the replay. (He did apologise afterwards as well). Give him his due though, he has had some financial hand tying with the buying of the stadium, and has an excellent name for bringing on young players. Still hate the boring twat though. He makes NP look like Peter Kay.
