Howdy my Norwich chums! Looking forward to the new season? Just looking for a bit of info really. One of the papers is reporting that Accies are close to sealing a season long loan deal for your young striker Carlton Morris. He's being described in said paper as a strong, physical frontman who was loaned out to Oxford and York last season but according to Wiki he didn't manage to find the net at either club. Anyone know what we should expect from him if this deal goes ahead? I see he's been capped at England Under 19 level so surely he must be pretty decent?
He scored in his first game for Oxford, but I am unsure how successful he was at York. Was our striker when we won the f.a. youth cup and was really impressive. (I believe he was a bit younger than the rest of the team).
Cheers goldeneadie! We're badly lacking someone who can find the net regularly. It looks like we're signing Christian Nade this week also but he's more a strong target man who holds the ball up and links play than a prolific goalscorer. If Carlton can play off him and grab us a few goals that would be ideal.
Whenever I've seen Morris play, which admitedly isn't that often, he always impressed me old fashioned type CF burly and strong a bit like Grant Holt. Now if he turns out to be half as good as Holty ..........
I think he would be a brilliant signing for you and a great deal for us, as he needs game time to see how he can develop. He was one of the stars when we won the FA Youth Cup IMO (I was also impressed with Wilshire when he played for Arsenal reserves against us a few seasons ago) and I'm sure he'll flourish in your team and yes, he's quite a big lad, but knows where the goal is!!!
Personally, I'm not sure how well he'll do for you. He was excellent in the F.A Youth Cup but seemed to completely flop for both Oxford and York. I don't think he'll exactly set the SPL on fire but if you stick with him and give him a run in the team then hopefully he'll start giving you a substantial return. If I had to make a prediction now, I'd say he'd perhaps nab six or seven goals but you'd need somebody else.
The only reason Carlton Morris stood out was because he was so big compared with most. I think he'll be lucky to make it higher than League 2. He's just not got the skill.
Don't mind Carrabuh YSYM, he's always like that! He'll do a good job for you and develop his game in the process, being only 19.
Yep, don't mind me. Its just that i know what I'm talking about. If I thought he was any good I'd say so. You'll find out if he joins. All brawn and little touch. He'll never make it at Norwich.
I thought he showed some good touches when we beat Everton and IMO, a loan at Hamilton Accies will either make or break him. We will have to wait and see how he develops.
That's SO not true. He has a good touch for a big guy - relatively speaking. But I agree that he'll not make it at Norwich, if we do stay in the EPL for a few years. The only two who could make it, in my humble opinion, are Harry Toffolo and Josh Murphy. And I'd favour the former over the latter. Definitely be interesting to see how Carlton gets on in the SPL, if Accies do take him on loan.
Loan now confirmed to Accies. Hope it works out and thanks for all your views. Hope our clubs can do more business in the future.
All the best for the new season - hope Alex can help you out through the season with a couple of short term loans as well.
Good experience for Morris and to play at a packed Celtic Park (if selected), would be fantastic for him.
