Great news, hopefully he's not far off replacing Becchio on the bench. Looks like he's signed on his 18th birthday, so we were clearly keen!

Good, pleased for him. Has looked very useful at youth level, hopefully he will get the chance to shine. Good to see a few youngsters starting to progress through the ranks for the first time in a while.

Wait for all the scaremongers to come out and say it is because Wolfy's injury is career threatening <laugh> and we need Morris to replace him.

Glad he has signed a pro contract with us, looks like he has a promising future whenever I've seen him play.

My congratulations to Carlton as well. It's great that City are putting more emphasis on bringing on young players and both the board and CH deserve credit for that. It isn't just about buying in a load of expensive players (as QPR and Spurs can attest), but building and developing players to allow the team to develop over the long term.

Look at the players who started their careers at Saints and have progressed since moving on. Great news for Morris and I'm sure that Neil and the others will ensure that he continues to improve. Must also give the other under 18's a boost to see some of the squad signing professional contracts.

Credit all round to Carlton himself, the youth team coaching staff, Neil Adams, and not least to Hughton, for being open-minded enough to give youth a chance <applause>

One thing, more to note rather then a concern is we don't seem to send many of our youngsters out on loan compared to other teams (other then GK). Could be any number of reasons really, they're not deemed good enough, staff think they will develop better at NCFC, no ones interested etc. Many players in the youth team we look at and say they need game time etc but we don't send many out on loan. Not necessarily a bad thing.

I think that, especially now josh has played in the PL and look pretty decent, there will be some championship team who would bite our hand off for him. Maybe better going to a league one club just so he gets more starts.
If we do bring in a new winger in January I reckon Murphy will spend the rest of the season out on loan.

I think this quote - from Friday's presser, was a bit of a red herring, to deflect media attention away from his true intended targets. Snodders and hopefully Pilks are not too far away from returning, then there's Redders and Murphy as back up. And that winger of sorts, E Benno :emoticon-0105-wink: for later in the campaign.

A CB and an ACM for me are the priorities (which I think has been mentioned on the sticky Jan transfer thread) <ok>

I think a spell with one of the Championship clubs chasing for promotion/play offs would be tremendously beneficial to his development.

It's good for your character to experience crushing disappointment but not sure if he could take being at Ipswich.

We don't want to put him off football just after signing for us! :p

I reckon he'd tear up the championship though. He has more than a touch of the "Holt" style of play about him.

Agreed - I think he has the potential to be noticeably better than Holt, and sooner

Definitely. He's only 18 and already has that physical side. From what I've seen he's also quite a natural goalscorer. But then when you're his size playing in the U18's it probably is quite simple.

Agree with this, Cromer. It's amazing how well City are coping without Snods and Pilks at the moment, and we do need to strengthen other areas.

Must admit I had forgotten about him, and speaking of loans, he spent a month at Coventry recently. Just looked into the press coverage he had whilst there, which was interesting. Unfortunately Coventry have the hottest strike partnership in league one at the moment, so he was limited to 9 minutes of senior football, but he really impressed the management in training and U21 games, and was regularly on their bench, if not the pitch.

For whatever reason though, we haven't extended his time at Coventry. I'd hazard a guess that we weren't too impressed with him not getting much time in the seniors, and that we'd rather if he was playing U21 football it was with us. Presumably the loan window is closed now, but we'll look to send him out somewhere when it reopens. Wouldn't surprise me if we look to loan out Morris too, probably to league 1 or 2.
