    As reported on Racing Post

Derby favourite Carlton House has slight setback
Derby favourite Carlton House is having his condition monitored after knocking a near-fore joint in a routine canter on Monday.

A precautionary x-ray was taken which did not suggest anything serious was amiss with the Dante Stakes winner who has been a short-priced favourite for Saturday's Classic since his win at York.

John Warren, racing advisor to the Queen said: "Carlton House was found to have a small amount of filling in his near-fore joint at evening stables last night, following a routine canter yesterday.

"As a result precautionary x-rays were taken this morning which revealed no abnormalities. There is an issue but we remain hopeful that he is on target for the Derby on Saturday

Yeah Beefy - just read that myself. Suppose its a case of keeping an eye on the web to see what now comes out!
I can't see how he'll be 100% now so do they risk him? Does have to put a big question mark over him if he does run though!

Surely he'll run. With no abnormalities revealed, why pull him out? Is the slight filling that big a problem? I really don't know. Anyone got any answers?

CH has a very minor injury and connections still expect him to run on Saturday.

in human terms It's a little like Usain Bolt having a small bruise on his foot, 5 days before the 100m final, so I wouldn't be too worried about CHs participation!

Obviously SMS would have had a schedule in place to get CH in tip top condition for the big day, so perhaps he may have to rethink a few things, which is a slight concern. Either way I'm sure he will run, and if he's beat Im sure this is the excuse that will be used

Agree flying bolt if his not fit don't run him, if they think he is 100% run him and no excuses if he does not win,its not as if they need the money for a place finish.
