I did say no to him when he's name was being bandied about pre-season. I think I'd say yes now given our current situation.

Cole set for QPR after striker fails to seal move to former club West Ham

Carlton Cole, who was released by West Ham at the end of last season and is surprisingly still without a club, is now expected to join injury-hit Championship team QPR, who have been trying to sign him for two years.
The Hammers were expected to re-sign the man they released at the end of last season, but decided he was not fit enough to earn a contract, according to tweets from Jack Sullivan, son of Hammers owner David.

Hitman: Carlton Cole is set to sign for QPR

During the summer, Cole had held talks with Hull City, Crystal Palace, St Etienne and Turkish clubs Kasimpasa and Karabukspor.
Rangers boss Harry Redknapp wants Cole to boost his striking options as he looks to return the west London side to the Premier League.

Because he failed a medical to rejoin West Ham, and his first touch is further than I can kick a ball... Genuinely the least 'mind blowing' (in a positive way at least) signing I could imagine.

Still, Harry knows him, and we are desperate...

    I dont want him
Just the sort of signing I would expect us to get
Somebody who is finished at the top level
He would be better than nothing though

Desperate times, desperate measures, he can join BZ & AJ as our other unfit strikers why would we want anyone who's able to play. Even if he was fit & ready would only have offered a short term, PAYP deal. Really should be able to do better IMO.

Yet again this makes the decision to go with AJ & BZ and sell DJ look like the strategy of a buffoon

Carlton Cole is now our best option? I'd rather give Hitchcock a run in the team

Words fail me. There has to be better out there, there has to be.

Cant believe Harry went with Austin, johnson and zamora as our only strikers, now we are resorted to this.

Yes i know that Cole wasn't first on anyones list but this is not a prem level where we are playing. Cole done quite well two seasons ago in the championship with hammers.
If he is not fit then just let it be.

Probably fair to say that if his attitude is right, age is secondary .....................it just depends on whether his bank account is getting low and wants a meal ticket OR he still has the fire in the belly and has the desire to play and score goals.

Beggars cant be choosers. We havent much choice with the state Redknapp left us in.

We might be looking at Titus Bramble at CB as well!

If we signed him, my positive thought would be that hed score 2 more than Zamora then and keep him out of the team, no one can be worse than Zamora.
