Sheffield Wednesday part company with Carlos Carvalhal.

    Merry Christmas.

Edit - so both managers are sacked after the same game. Wonder if that's ever happened before.

Is this a first with both managers getting sacked having played each other?

Hardly surprising. That Wendy team we beat at Wembley was so poor. Living in the shadow of the blunts who many tipped to struggle was probably the last straw.

I thought Slutsky went back to Russia? I'd be surprised if he came back again quickly.

He’s sporting director at CSKA now, job for life, he won’t leave. He will be manager again before long.

Which bit is not true, he isn't CSKA sporting director, or he won't be back in management soon?

Ah just heard he'd gone back. Made sense. Fair enough. There was something about him being offered a job at Chelsea, although nothing seems to have come from that either.

Our win at Wembley screwed them up good style.<laugh>

It's taken 10 years and £40m injection for Bristol to come back to where they are now.

Doesn't seem bad value. We have spent far more to end up way below them.
They have increased the capacity of their stadium whilst we have part of ours shut.

Self made billionaire, and localish lad, is a different kettle of fish to our chairman. First joined the board in 1996. To fund the rebuilding of the stadium he simply sold some of his shares in Hargreaves Lansdown ( a firm that earnt me a good return on an investment) to pay for it. No loans, no interest.
Also bought the local rugby union team. Making a success of that as well. Their crowds have doubled to nearly 14,000, more than the rugby side we share a stadium with. Despite them playing on the same pitch all during the same season as the football in a game which has contested scrums, mauls etc which cause far more damage to the pitch than league their pitch appeared to be in better condition than ours.
They are in a better position than we are. The only fly in the ointment is that Bristol is not a hotbed of football. For a city the size of Sheffield the clubs have underachieved downnthe years and never had large crowds. That might, change with a bit of success. But we thought that as well.
Of course, despite all this, they are not as well run as we are, as Ehab would confirm.
