The winners of the Charlton v Reading Carling Cup match will be at home to Preston North End... IF we can get past Reading i think we got a real chance to get to the 3rd round and play one of the big guns from the premiership! Or would we all rather a ''lesser lower league team'' to progress further in the 'mickey mouse' cup?

tbh i rather go out to reading 1:0 (nothing massive for confidence) so we can fully consentrate on the league

I wouldn't mind a run in the cup and give the likes of Benson, Euell, Wagstaff, Doherty more games

I agree, we've a decent squad this season, and a few youngsters who might never get a 1st team game. 5 goalkeepers for a start! The Carling would be perfect for them, whereas we ought to try and win the JPT this season!

    Agreed

We have strength enough in the squad to let the likes of Bover and Mambo have an outing in the cup games if we get past Reading.

We always go out of the cup(any cup) early and it never does us any good.

Carling Cup Squad could quite easily be:

    Hamer
    Hughes - Doherty - Mambo - Evina
    Harriott - Alonso - Pritchard - Jackson
    Benson - Euell

You could see us getting quite far in the with that Squad especially as Reading dont have Shane Long anymore

and for the JPT you could see

    Hamer
Hughes - Morrison (or Taylor) - Doherty - Wiggins
    Wagstaff - Hollands - Pritchard - Evina
    Wright-Phillips - Hayes

A win is a win is a win or so they say. I want us to win every match this season, we have a squad big enough and each win will bring more confidence, I don't want us to lose agianst the likes of Reading or PNE. Lets be positive this year and break some records......L1 Champs, Paint Pot Trophy winners and Carling cup finalists....I fancy the lot.
