Has left the Gills today according to his twitter. "Gutted to have keft Gillingham football club some nice people there. Wish them well." Looks like Peter Taylor could be bringing in his own staff then. Seems a bit silly though considering he's the guy who has managed to get Nelson to the keeper he is today and who Nelson rates so highly as a coach.

Hopefully this won't mean that Nelson will follow but in all fairness, for a club of our stature I'm not quite sure why we needed a full time goalkeeping coach when that money could probably be better spent on the playing staff. Best of luck to Carl in the future think I read on his twitter that he was going to try and set up his driving school business again so hopefully that works out for him and he still comes down to watch Sam play for us next season.

Considering that we have two very young keepers on the books and that it is such a specialist position I think that it's vital that we have a goalkeeping coach of a good calibre so these players can be nurtured and improve. Nelson still has many years left in him and at only 32 he can still learn and get better, and if letting Muggleton go is the reason that Nelson leaves, then I will be furious.

Unless Nelson has already been courted by another team and has his future secured elsewhere? Muggleton's departure would then make sense. That said Nels in his award acceptance speech said how this team has the best spirit he's come across, hopefully he pens.

Sad to see both of them go, thought they made for a professional backroom staff which we haven't seen for a good long while at the club. Best of luck to both of them.

Really have a bad feeling that we will see Hess snr back in the coaching set up.

That's a good shout PegLeg, I did see a photo from the POTY which showed Scally and Hess chatting to each other quite seriously. You never know!
