I agree, plus some would be backing him to start with, then say he was the cheap option when it goes tits up.
What was interesting in that interview was his comments on this season and how all the players have got to learn to play in a new way, he also said S O'D couldn't change the way he wanted the team to play last season as there were too many players, who had been struggling with the club for two and a half seasons, bought in by different managers with different ideas. He said the gaffer tried to mold them into a new way of doing things but it only worked for a short while then most players went back to what they did before. No Names mentioned but interesting to hear his take on what happened to the club last season.
Entirely agree. He needs to go away from City for at least five years to firstly learn his new trade and secondly to come back when all his chums in the dressing room have departed the club. Hardest job in any industry is to manage where you have been one of the lads.
Brian Tinnion anyone!! I concur with others it is too soon for him he needs time as either a No2 or go away and cut his teeth elsewhere and then come back.
I don't think he is thinking next year as he is still doing his coaching badges and has said inspite of what he thought he enjoyed it.
I'm very wary of him moving into management, considering his comments against McInnes when SOD had just joined. The guy is obviously a club legend, and that will most likely put him in the frame for the job should be decide to become a manager. However, his experience is mostly limited to a club that haven't been run well for a while, and is limited to a handful of leagues. If Carey is to be respected as a manager, he'll need to move elsewhere before he gets his hands on this club. I'd recommend a stint abroad.
Learning to walk before running also comes to mind. Too many unanswered questions about what has happened within the dressing room for me to give LC any support for any managerial/coaching role at Bristol City.
Get your coaching badges Louis and some managerial or assistance managerial experience elsewhere. In the years to come you may return to us like Lazarus, or as we call him Tin Man
