The daft calls for BM to step down (on JA for example) made me think, about the cv you get from being Leeds manager and how enhancing that must be to your career. You'd think the chance to manage a prestigious big club would be something no one should turn down, just look at the glittering careers of the last 6 managers: Where are they now? Ex-managers: Peter Reid – last I read, he was mgr of some Indian team? Kevin Blackwell – now mgr of L2 Bury where his win rate is 23% Dennis Wise –after Newcastle exec role, not sure - nothing?? Gary Mcallister – briefly asst mgr at Villa, since 2011 nothing? Simon Grayson – Huddersfield then Preston, currently in L1 playoff places Neil Warnock – nothing I know of, other than punditry I hope there is no "next manager" for a long time and BM succeeds, but if there has to be, lets hope the candidates don't peruse this sorry story. Or they'll run a mile. Anyone agree/disagree? Who would you blame - Bates, GFH, individual managers, the fans, or Tom Lees?
The general feeling at the games is nearly 100% behind Brian, people sat at home shouting sack him are of no consequence to be honest.
Its got to be one of the hardest jobs about to be fair Fans expectations to manage with very little funds. If we wasnt Leeds United I doubt the likes of Warnock/McDermott would have looked twice at us. The reward for success outweighs some of the risk I suppose, but I think your all agree you have to be a brave man if you step into the hot seat.
I think the managers get fed a load of BS to be honest with you. Warnock made it clear he was hoping to sign the icing on the cake players but funds ran dry and I do not believe BMD would have spent his entire budget on Murphy had he known zilch else to spend (although I also believe the plan was to sell Byram).
To be fair to Warnock, without HIS signings - Varney, Peltier, Austin & Pearce who have been your best players (in my opinion) alonside McCormack your team would be a lot worse than just "really bad". McDermott seems to be sticking with Murphy (who was rank on Saturday) or all of his Summer signings would just be subs - not sure if that's Warnocks fault to be honest. The fact that you all like BM is blinkering your judgement
I just like BMD's thoughts after the game. No Bravo Sierra. An honest assessment of how we've done without slagging off the players. We're having a bad trot at the moment, but I think he will put it right. Let's not forget, he did getting Reading into the PL on minimal budget. So give him time, and he'll get us there.
I wouldn't say it's a curse/suicide it's just we've had a bad set of managers since D.O'L Venables: Hadn't managed a club in years apart from 2 games at Boro. Reid: Failed at Sunderland, spent £22 million and only got 22 points in his last year at the Riverside. He's also failed at every other club he's been too since. Best examples have been Leicester and Coventry. Blackwell: SHOULD NEVER HAVE GOT THE JOB. I wanted Ronnie Moore at the time and still think he would have done a better job. Wise: **** himself in the foot by going to Newcastle. After the Keegan who ha, I don't think anybody would have touched him. Mcallister: He's a had couple of Ass Man roles that have failed but It's mainly the mangers fault. How on ever hires Houllier, come on. I think you might see McAllister back in management soon. Grayson: He's specialty is getting teams out of league 1. He's done it with 3 club already and Preston will probably be his 4th. Give Grayson time and he will be a brilliant championship manager. Warnock: As for Warnock, he's a prat, I don't think many chairman will touch him especially as he runs his mouth off at anything. I wouldn't of taken Warnock as manager. I would rather of had McKay as manager than Warnock
