I'm looking for some information I have not been finding on google. I currently are doing and have been doing since I was 16, Machine Op jobs for next to nothing and have no experience or learning in other trades. I'm looking to get into the trade of a Sparky and know not where to start. I suppose I have to study, but where do I find a course? If it is realistic to find an experienced Sparky to offer to show me the ropes then that would be great although I am doubtful because they are trying to make money and may not have the patience or time to do have me follow them about like a little pooch. Is there anybody here that can point me to the right direction?
Contact your local council. I know up in Glasgow anyway, there's no age limit to the cooncil taking on apprentices. You'll be on **** wages for 3/4 years though. You can positive rep me for the advice
I can help you but I'll need to see a picture of your girlfriend first. Don't worry, I have seen Ian Beales girl and he's now training to be an RAF pilot such is my power and influence. With most trades you'll first of all need to prove that you have an ounce of sense and will make you take some tests to makes sure that you can count etc. Then you'll need to fire a CV through to every company in your region, but I find that you'll only get a job if you know someone at that company. So, try and rack your brains and find out if you know any sparks and if they're recruiting.
It's all changed now. I've a third year apprentice joiner in my family and he's on 180 a week. First year was 120. They don't let the apprentices get bonuses anymore either. That's City Building for you.
Aye, but that's joiners. Us technical trades still get the big bucks. Although, it's hardly moved in 5 years now.
Not with CB they don't. It's all changed. Coz they're a LLP now. It's run like a private company but still does all the cooncil work plus other stuff. I read something a few weeks ago about 4th year apprentice plumbers I think it was, all being laid off as there was no money to even keep one on. All the tradesmen they worked with gave up overtime so some of them could get a job for at least a year with CB. That's how tight things are now.
