http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10335~2376616,00.html Sorry to ruin all your days!! Lets just hope we get a good statement of intent from Baz and GT saying that there is no way in hell they are letting Cardiff speak to MM. Though - as said by Leo on another post. He gets paid around £130,000 a year whereas Jones was on £900,000 a year when at Cardiff. Money talks... As I wrote this: http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2376588,00.html "We don't want Malky to leave Watford and we will do everything in our power to keep him at Vicarage Road," said Hornets owner Laurence Bassini." Keep that stance up Bassini!!!!
HH, there already is a rejection on the club website http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2376588,00.html The hope is Cardiff don;t come back with an improved offer... even if there was a monetary offer in the first place!
Some of us don't get it. Why pay a bundle of money for a guy when you have Hughton sitting there twiddling his thumbs. I hope you keep rejecting our offers to be honest!!
To be fair thats a really good point siambluebird. Unless they would need to offer a large disparity in wages why not make everyone happy and appoint Hughton and let us keep our manager.
i didn't mean that as being disrespectful to Malky either. We know our money is tight as well. Hughton's salary would be about the 300k mark we imagine (He was on 250k at Newcastle). Malky would want about 250-300k as well surely. I doubt he would leave without a pretty good pay rise. Considering Jones was on about 800k a year this is a good deal for us IF we don't pay compensation.
Unless Cardiff comeback with an offer of compensation acceptable to Watford then ball is now firmly in Malky’s court if he wants to talk to Cardiff then he would have to resign. I don’t believe that Baz is naive enough not to have spoken to Malky before issuing a statement nor am I naive enough to think that Malky’s agent has not done some groundwork on this So I suppose it all depends on how badly Cardiff want Malky they may decide it is not worth the bother and move on lets hope so.
Well even if Jones was on 900K p/y and Malky asks for 300K and you have to pay us 300K, you are still 300K better off. But all in all a can not see the situation changing. Malky has the club wrapped around his little finger and he has the team moving in a direction he is happy with. The whole project is a work in progress and i dont think he will want to leave it half finished, he seems the type to see a job through, or at least leave it in a nice package for his successor.
I think Mackay would do a far better job than Hughton. I don't think we should appoint someone because they are cheap or available. I think we should appoint the best man for the job and the Board have decided it is Mackay
The "we will do everything we can to keep him here" comment worries me. It suggests that either Baz is worried that Mackay will "do a McLeish" or that this is a bit of PR so it doesn't look like he's giving in too easily when he does eventually leave. If there wasn't at least some interest in Malky going from either the club or Malky (or both) we should have had a flat denial by now - it's been going on long enough.
Don't get me wrong, if they appointed Hughton...great! He is a good manager, just wish we'd get it sorted now whoever it is
Baz's statement is a really good woolly management speak thing. It satisfies everyone so everyone wins. If MM stays the club has done enough, if he goes the club will have gone as far as they could without exceeding any planned bugetary constraints and the move was MM's decision.
Welcome aboard Berkshire. I think Bassini has done the best he can do for the club so far, he has held out for 3.5mill for DG which is a fair deal, considering clubs offered 2mill to start. Also 1mill for Bucko was a good deal after rejecting offers prior. He has not just taken petty cash for anyone. Then he issues a hands off message and confirms no approach, shows honesty and integrity and he has stuck to his word. I have to tip my hat to this guy, he has not done as bad as we thought.
