Thought this deserved its own thread but couldn't already find one.

No longer will they play in blue, now red. With a change of badge too.

Its part of some massive rebrand, apparently. Is the colour red synonymous with luck etc in that whole region of Asia, what with their owners being Malaysian.

I find the whole thing rather unsavoury and actually quite insulting to the Cardiff City supporters (regardless of how I view them).

Yes 'its a business' but this is surely an unnecessary step.

This was in the news during the play off matches and the club issued a statement to say this was not going to happen, has there been a change of mind, pity if there has.

Red is lucky In Asia, as is the number 8. Wouldn't be surprised if they incorporated the numbers 888 in there aswell on the badge or elsewhere. I see alot of 888 around Asia when I go there.

I would be pissed off if my team in wales was trying to rebrand for people 10000miles away who will never come to the stadium.

As long as we don't have to wear black and white.

The simplest answer is for Cardiff fans to just not buy the new shirt and keep turning up with the blue shirts on.

    Easy.

There isn't a person or corporate body in existence that would make me change my love of red & white stripped shirts. 2nd and 3rd strips can be anything they want imo but the home shirt is sacred.

The problem with foreign businessmen who have no concept of what football means to fans. Surely someone must be advising them or do they simply not care.

A more extreme version of what the Venkys are doing at Blackburn.

Could there be a chance that the Cardiff fans are ok with this as red is the colour of Wales, the country of which their city is the capital?

I don't know any Cardiff lads, would like to hear there views.

I'd be astounded if they were happy. They have worn blue and white for over 100 years and have never had any red at any time.

If Ellis Short suddenly decided we should wear blue or yellow strips, I'd tell him to politely **** off. Luckily we have an owner that has bought into the history of the club as well as the spirit.

Oh aye mate, there'd be ****ing hell on if we changed!

Just had a look on their board, they seem pretty ok with it, so long as the promised income materializes!

There is the small matter that this was one of their stipulations which would decide if they invested 100m or not...................

Everything has a price in modern football, including long held traditions.

Yeah, gathered that from their forum, if it brings in the money and gets them into the Premier, they'll be happy enough I guess.

End of the day, we all want the best for our clubs.

Think It's a good idea. its a patriotic, rugby country. Might helo grab some die hard wales rugby fans and it makes them more easily recognisable to foreign people.

This is weird, frankly. If strips are going to be changed on the whim of an owner or investor then we'd all better watch out.

Love to know what our old 606 chum"cityblueforever" thinks of the new strip though...

I'd be suspicious though given the trials and tribulations others have had with these little known foreign owners. I'm thinking Birmingham and Pompey! Good luck to them though, hopefully they don't end up with similar ****ebags.

We've had our own badge changed not so long ago at the whim of an owner. I preferred our old badge.

    Let's bring it back!

As many of you will know from 1879 to 1884 Sunderland's original strip was all blue and then they changed to red and white halved shorts. The red and white stripes were first worn in 1887. I wonder what the comments would be in here if the management suggested we went back to blue or red and white halves.

Some of the variations of red and white we have played in were pretty grim - I remember the pin stripe in the 80's so we are not entirely immune from this.
