Had a call from an old Millwall bloke the other day, used to be a pal. As city fans we all expect Gary Madine (goal machine) to be on his way to pastures new soon...and he was asking me about his potential! Being an honest man all my life I couldn’t tell him a lie...he puts himself about, holds the ball up....big and strong, gets in your face.... makes a nuisance of himself....worth a punt as when he explodes as he surely will...ahem, soon....he’ll be a bargain for a team like Millwall! Expect him to score on Boxing Day....a couple maybe! All the best ?Gary......been great pal! Cardiff will be without midfielder Joe Ralls (hand), while Junior Hoilett (hamstring) and Joe Bennett (Achilles) are injury doubts. Bluebirds captain Sean Morrison remains suspended, but winger Gavin Whyte could start in place of Josh Murphy. Millwall hope to have defenders Alex Pearce and Murray Wallace back after missing Saturday's defeat with illness. Teddy Sheringham could get a start after a layoff! Ben Thompson (ankle) is doubtful but Aiden O'Brien may start after scoring off the bench against Barnsley. Match facts The last four league meetings between Cardiff and Millwall have all been drawn. There has been just one goal scored in the last four league meetings between Cardiff and Millwall at the Cardiff City Stadium, a Rudy Gestede winner in a 1-0 win for Cardiff in December 2012. Cardiff have won on Boxing Day in just two of their last 19 league matches played on that day (W2 D9 L8). This is Millwall's first away league match on Boxing Day since losing 6-1 at Norwich City in 2014. Cardiff have only lost one of their last 11 home league games (W7 D3 L1), losing to Bristol City in November. Millwall's Matt Smith has had a hand in eight goals in 20 league appearances this season (5 goals, 3 assists), one more than he registered with QPR last term in 35 games (6 goals, 1 assist).
“...could start instead of Josh Murphy.” “could!” Surely he’s not going to start, Matt Connelly would do better than Murphy
Made me chuckle this TBH....not the usual derogatory and unnecessary retort from BFB, but the fact that FB “liked” it! WTF pal? Pull your pants up!
Just read the team blue. Attacking looking line up. Good options available off the bench. Wondering if we should read anything into the madine absence. Lot of footy to be played in the next few days.
I fully expect city to come to life in the second half and take the points! However, Masky has said it before....we’ve been second best in every game this season!
Glatzel forced a decent save in the 45th minute. City’s lack of penetration in midfield and ability to feed in the centre forward again cost us. Their keeper made a quality save from Tomlin and ours must have been disappointed not to palm away a 35 yard free kick. Was it a free kick?
Anyone think Millwall should have had a penalty (and probably a red card) in the first half? Looked from my angle nailed on but stand to be corrected
OK - taken a breath until this morning. Came home and sat down to watch the Leeds/Preston game on the box - what a difference to the garbage earlier in the afternoon. It's time for some brutal honesty about the whole set up at City - we are a very poor side. I've not seen a more clueless City performance since Slade numbed the senses with his bland **** a few years back. It's not like me, but apart from expletives, I'm lost for words regarding individuals. It's basic stuff - we can't pass the ball to each other. In the absence of basic skills, the alternative is aggression and that's what Warnock instilled. We seem to have even lost that recently and there's no energy nor urgency in the side - we are walking through the games like slow motion replays. Just glanced at the table and it looks like we've actually gone up a place at the mo - unbelievable, this is a crazy division. We should be helping ourselves to points not surrendering them against (with the greatest respect but they are ordinary) sides like Millwall. That's the 24th game and the first team we've played both games against anyone so far this season. We've thrown away 4 points out of the possible 6 against them - that's mid table stuff at best.
