Has been a guaranteed three points for us over the last few seasons, but will be a difficult encounter today. We kicked off against Huddersfield in our promotion season, a game won in the last minute by a Mark Hudson strike, first of 10 consecutive home wins....more of the same eh pals? Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock says injured duo Jazz Richards and Matt Connolly are nearing a return before the visit of Huddersfield Town. Richards has not played since September after picking up a calf injury, while Connolly has missed the last two games. Huddersfield boss David Wagner is likely to include midfielder Aaron Mooy, despite him playing for Australia in Thailand on Tuesday. Forward Kasey Palmer (hip) is a doubt, while Harry Bunn (hamstring) is out. Match facts Cardiff have not lost any of their last six league meetings with Huddersfield (W4 D2) and won both matches last season. The Terriers have lost their last five visits to Cardiff in all competitions, last winning there in September 2001, thanks to goals from Dwayne Mattis and Danny Schofield in a 2-1 victory. No Championship player's goals have been worth more points this term than Huddersfield's Elias Kachunga (nine points from five goals). No side has lost more Championship games after conceding the first goal this season than Cardiff (9). Cardiff have gone 15 games without a clean sheet in league competition; they last went 16 without a shutout in November 1989. The Terriers have won just once in their last five league games (D1 L3), shipping 10 goals in the process.
Maybe I should have hedged my bets and gone for a likely draw in the prediction league but I smiled at that comment from Colin to the media about it getting worse before it gets better for us. The guy is an old fox and playing mind games is just one of his talents - another is getting his teams winning games that they really shouldn't. He'll be up for this one against one of his old clubs and I expect him to push us over the line on the day.
Wasn't pretty but effective. Massive 3 points. Can't recall the last time City won comfortably & not put us through the wringer.
Alamo stuff second half and to be honest Huddersfield were the more "cultured" side in both halves. As it was sheer grunt and determination won the day and you can't ask for anymore than 3 points at this stage of Warnock's tenure. The finesse can come in it's time - at the moment all we need to do is more of the same again against Villa and Brighton. Aa said many times there are no easy games in this division, but after those two the rest of the December fixtures look decidedly promising. Mid table beckons for the New Year and where we go from there is anybody's guess.
I thought the result flattered them and I was glad Hudds was on the bench, I don't think Morro would have had so many headers if he was playing. I thought their back 4 and goalkeeper had a mare 1st half. Mid table in the new year we would have bit your hands off just a month ago Sparks.
