Cardiff City v Bristol CityMatch Preview please log in to view this image Friday, November 6th 2020 The highly anticipated Severnside derby rolls around in a Friday night, under the lights encounter in South Wales. In partnership with MansionBet, here’s a preview of what you can expect from the fixture. This will be City’s final game before the second international break of the season and they hit into it off the back of a big win against Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night. Jamie Paterson scored the winner in Yorkshire to end City’s five-game winless run as Dean Holden’s tactical switch helped put a stop to the rut. Positivity was key to riding through what was a tough period for the Robins but the 2-1 win will give the squad a mental boost ahead of their trip to the Cardiff City Stadium. Friday’s game is one marked in the calendar by supporters who, due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, will be missed in the ground. And it will be almost one year exactly since City recorded a 1-0 victory on Cardiff soil, when Josh Brownhill struck the second-half winner to secure the Robins a first away win there for 17 years. That result proved to be Neil Warnock’s final game in charge of the Bluebirds, with Neil Harris his replacement. Harris would lead Cardiff to the play-off semi-finals though their start to the 2020/21 campaign may not suggest play-off challenge form just yet. The Bluebirds have three wins from ten games so far after crashing out of the Carabao Cup at the first round before an opening day league defeat to Sheffield Wednesday. A run of one win in seven games, despite tight scorelines, means Harris would, similarly to Holden’s side, endure a tough October before they hit back to beat Barnsley 3-0 on Tuesday night. On-field captain Josh Brownhill blasted in a right-footed shot from distance in the second half to take the three points back to Bristol. The Bluebirds would hit the woodwork three times at a chilly Cardiff City Stadium but ultimately they had little response to Brownhill’s second-half moment of brilliance. The win lifted City up to sixth in the Sky Bet Championship table as they went into the international break unbeaten in four games. Moore's muscle, towering defence and wily Wilson - What Bristol City can expect from Cardiff City A tactical breakdown of how the Bluebirds like to play and what the Robins can do to beat them in tonight's Championship https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/moores-muscle-towering-defence-wily-4674482
Moore's physicality will be a big test for our defence; however, I still feel we have more than Cardiff as a whole, so if we keep Moore quiet, Cardiff won't offer much else. We still seem to get better results away from home, so I think a draw is probably likely, I would be quite surprised if we lost tbh.

Got a bad feeling about this one going by past performances - hopefully we can turn the tide and sneak it tonight like we did mid week.
a point would be good for both teams.. then a nice rest ..or time to go off the boil! I made a comment on the line up for Huddersfield where we play 4 - 3 - 1- 2 with Fammy and Martin up front with someone in behind was going to say DaSilva but chickened and opted for Bakinson Bentley; Vyner, Kalas, Moore; Hunt, Paterson, Bakinson, Nagy, Dasilva; Fammy, Martin subs ..depending on score 3 from this 5 or in starting line up "player swap" Semenyo Wells Callum, Brunt, Rowe edit no Fammy has covid so Semenyo to start
So, it seems he's gone 4-3-3 tonight. I like that, and hope it works!! Bakinson isn't in the matchday squad, is he injured/COVID? please log in to view this image
BBC has different order of line up but same players … looks like a 3-4-3 with option of 3-5-2 "subs look a bit weak?"
Finally I got to see our match and I thought we looked quite solid all across the pitch and with some solid performances we got the job done. Bentley had a good game and dealt with most threats in fine fashion and all in all the rest of the squad came up with the necessary challenges to win the second ball. We played some sweeping football at times and the tenacity was there for all to see, and the reaction from Dean at the final whistle showed how important this valuable win was to both him and the players. Well done to all at the club.
Think the defence did well tonight. Cardiff could have had another 90 mins and still wouldn't have scored... Kalas had a very good game as did Vyner and Nagy...Bentley looked reassuring with his handling.. Sometimes have to dig deep, thought we did that tonight...great 3 points and hopefully we keep it going after International break,,
First of all, it's been quite a while since I last commented on your board, so I hope everyone is keeping well and safe. As for tonight, well no complaints. Football is about scoring more than the other team. We had our chances but didn't take them and consequently didn't deserve to win. Anyway, congratulations and best of luck for the rest of your season. Enjoy, stay safe and keep well.
