The threads about England are making my eyes bleed, so I thought I'd turn attention towards the Cardiff game. Cardiff have certainly been busy, not only in appointing Warnock, but also making a couple of signings in Sol Bamba and Junior Hoilett, with rumours of them also getting in Marouane Chamakh before Friday. Derbies are unpredictable at the best of times, and these changes add to the uncertainty. Cardiff fans are very mixed in their predictions, with only a few predicting a win for them. I think Warnock will prioritise making their defence more difficult to beat and look to hit us on the counter, with the pace of Hoilett being a potential game-deciding factor. Being my usual cautious self, I'll predict 1-1, with us falling behind in the first half but coming back and eventually breaking through in the second.
Before Warnock arrived I was confident of a comfortable win for us. Now I agree with NickH above - he will concentrate on making them hard to beat, but we should still do it as I think that man for man we simply have better players. They have just signed a couple of new players but I think they won't have had enough time to gel by Friday. I'll go for a narrow 1-goal victory for us.
At least Tammy is playing during the break and scoring for fun, so if you want a player who will be up for the task against Cardiff then look no further.
They are now also looking at Kieran Richardson too. We'll need to be really up for this one. Not because of the multiple signings, but we need to be wary of the way Warnock will have them well fired up.. !
A game that I would have been massively confident in us winning before their new appointment, but we all know that a) teams often have a little surge on getting a new manager and b) Neil Warnock, for all his faults, gets results. Throw into the mix the fact that it's a bit of a derby, and it's a 1-1 draw for me I'm afraid.
Spot on, although with it being a derby of sorts, I'd already hedged by bet and had gone for 1-1, which I'll still be happy with.
Sorry number16 - the one thing this is NOT going to be is a draw! Far too much pressure on us to settle for that. You will either murder us (most likley) because Warnock will try something completely off the wall that all falls apart despite his rantings from the touchline....... OR........ he'll get it spot on and the 11 (+7) he sends out will turn on something we haven't witnessed since the days of Dave Jones, Bothroyd and Chopra. Whatever, it will easily be the most interesting and anticipated game over here for the last 2 seasons.
With NW in charge I really cant see us murdering you Oldsparkey, which is why it'll still be a 1-1 draw...you mark my words ! Had Trollope still been in charge it might have been a different story.
I think a spanking for either side is unlikely. The combination of Warnock's appointment and new signings give Cardiff a certain amount of edge in that we won't have a clue how they'll be set up, whereas they could probably accurately predict our starting lineup, bar one or two possible variations; but, as it's been pointed out, he hasn't had that much time with them and the new signings may not be match fit.
Forget the new signings guys - they don't even have to be match fit for this one. The mere fact that they've been signed up could make a huge difference. If there's one thing that Warnock will do is maximise what he's got and I suspect the additions are all part of his strategy. There was more than enough latent talent individually at Cardiff before the new arrivals to compete at a far higher level than we've seen this season. Trollope never got the sum of the parts to add up to a collective performance on the pitch. Really looking forward to a competitive game from a team sent out by a manager that knows what he's doing - regardless of the eventual result.
We'll beat them, nothing to worry about with the players they've just bought especially Chamakh, I think he's ****e and done nothing since leaving Arsenal, then again he never done anything special when he was with them either. Will be a good game and I think we'll win and carry on our good form and keep our place in the top 6.
I'm more worried about injuries after Colin's Thugs have followed orders and kick our Boys in the Air!
Match facts Cardiff have won five and drawn two of their last seven home league encounters with rivals Bristol City. The Robins have conceded two or more goals in five of their last six league games against Cardiff, keeping a clean sheet in the other fixture. Cardiff have seen just three of their players score a league goal for them this campaign; the fewest spread in the Championship. Bristol City have come from behind to win a league-high 11 points so far this season. The Bluebirds have lost six of their last seven matches in league competition, winning the other. Tammy Abraham has been directly involved in more goals than any other Championship player this season (10 - 8 goals, 2 assists).

I think if we had met them before Widow Twanky arrived we would have given Cardiff a right good hiding. Now however I am slightly nervous. W_anky Twanky has the Indian sign over City, and although we now have the players to turn them over I am fretting that other forces will be ranged against us. Like Karma for instance (remembering Palace ?). Or maybe its nonsense ? I sure do hope so...
I wouldn't necessarily say that he's got 'the Indian sign' over us - we beat his Crystal Palace side in the Championship semi-finals, as well as the famous 'ghost goal' game. His record at this level is to be respected though, and his appointment undoubtedly makes this a more difficult match than it otherwise would have been.
