Cardiff City v Swansea City Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Cardiff City Stadium Date - 2 April 2022 Kick off - 3:00pm Following their disappointing home draw against Birmingham, next up for Russell Martin’s Swansea squad is the South Wales derby away against Cardiff. In their last Championship match on 19 March, the Swans were held by Birmingham City at the Swansea.com Stadium with the visitors missing several opportunities to win a match they largely dominated. The Blues missed two golden chances in the first half with Juninho Bacuna and Tahith Chong both failing to hit the target from close range. Maxime Colin rattled the crossbar in the second half, with the Swans - as usual - dominant in possession but creating few chances. Joel Piroe had their best efforts, but in truth, the Swans never looked like scoring. In their last match on 16 March, Cardiff continued their recent improvement with a 2-1 victory that extended Stoke's winless run. Stoke took the lead with their first opportunity as Lewis Baker curled beyond Alex Smithies from distance. The Bluebirds equalised before the break when Tommy Doyle showed composure to slide the ball under Jack Bonham. Cardiff scored the decisive third goal when Jordan Hugill curled home from outside the penalty area after Taylor Harwood-Bellis lost possession. The victory saw Cardiff stay in 17th place in the table, immediately below the Swans. In the corresponding fixture last season, the Swans ran out deserved 2-0 victors thanks to a brace from Jamal Lowe: Turning to Saturday, the Swans have the opportunity of creating history as neither side has ever achieved the double - can Russell Martin’s men do so in what is the first 3pm kick off in c30 years? Personally, I think they can do so - if they pick the right team and have the right attitude. They owe the fans a good performance after some wretched recent away performances - Stoke, Sheffield United and Blackpool readily spring to mind. Anyway, I’m going 2-1 to the Swans
Wouldn't it be ironic if we did it this season when we're so inconsistent Let's make history! 2 - 3 injury time winner.
Thanks Taff....confidence is the key and hopefully RM has instilled this and desire in the team for this game..Swans to win...
Josh Smith has been appointed as the referee for Cardiff v Swansea. Smith comes from a long family line of referees, as he started officiating aged 14, following in the footsteps of his dad and grandfather, who refereed football and rugby league respectively. He oversaw the first game back in the EFL after Covid, the League Two play-off semi-final between Colchester United and Exeter City. Smith was appointed to the ‘select group two’ of match officials ahead of the 2020-21 season. He will be assisted by Ian Cooper and Sam Lewis, while Dean Whitestone will be the fourth official for the South Wales derby.
Feeling confident about this one and the pressure will be on them. So assuming not too many defensive blunders then it's a history making 2-1 win to the Swans
A cagey sideways passing boring first half at LEGOLAND then they wake up second half with a dirty spell giving a pen each ending in a 2-2 draw nicking our double in the 93rd min.
One nill to Swansea. There's a lot of scrap metal finding its way to Rover Way and Shirenewton at the moment, courtesy of the Russian army, so this is probably of more importance to the local caravan, sorry Cardiff, boys than the match itself, A word of warning to anyone going to the match, if you get approached by one of the locals trying to peddle some of their wares like horseshoes, trinkets or bundles of heather, contact a member of the local police force, they have a specialist unit trained to deal with the gypsies.
A Cardiff fan and a Swansea fan were driving head on, one night and their cars collide. To their amazement, neither is hurt but both cars are destroyed. In celebration of their good luck, they agree to put their differences aside from that moment on and the Swansea fan goes to the boot of his car and fetches a 12 year old bottle of whisky. He hands it to the Cardiff fan who exclaims "may the Swansea and Cardiff fans live together, forever, in peace and harmony", then gulps down half the bottle. He goes to hand the bottle to the Swansea fan, who replies, "No, thanks, I'll just wait until the police get here, you Cardiff Bastard ”…..
Truth be told it would make mine and thousands of other jacks day on Saturday with a win whether easily or jammy last minute nite penalty just to allow the Western Fail and sister broadcasters to miss reporting the game because it doesn’t count or deadlines just to suit their annoyance that little old Swansea have had another record against the tarts from the East....
IF they win you can bet it'll be headline news for days , should we , you better find a good search engine
