It looks like we are playing for 6th, 5 games to go and still a 3 horse race. Come on your Bluebirds
I really think it is between us and Brighton. Middlesbrough seem to have lost all confidence. If you put us up against Brighton, we should finish with more points then them on the run in. I actually still think we can grab 5th. Still a long way to go before we can talk about playoffs
Would put Birmingham in the mix as well, they have a very tough run in (other than bristol city). Blackpool like ourselves seem to have on paper the easier run ins. The hard call is who is going to drop out of the auto places to join the play offs, still think west ham could go up automatically.
If we perform as we know we can I'd go for a clean sweep, 15 points. Brighton have 3 tough games so I think they'll get a maximum of 6 points. Boro will get a maximum of 9 points. Perform like we have been of late (prior to Boro) we'd maybe scrape 10 points, so no6 spot is there for the taking.
I think it's anyone's guess as to the top 6, there are the other 5, take your choice. Cheers Rhondda, When (positive spin) we get to the play offs do we want to finish 4th 5th or 6th, i personally hope we finish 6th and play the team in 3rd, just want to leave Blackpool till the final
I think the next 2 games will play a big part in readings and west hams fait saints seem to have a run in that would favour them with the 4 point lead they have. Blackpool like us seem to have a decent run in so with the points on the board already they should be fine. I got Saints WH Reading Blackpool Brum CCFC Brighton Borough
I would rather play West Ham in a one off game. I think the expectations would weigh on them...it seems to be now! Would prefer Blackpool over two legs.
I'll just be happy to finish in any PO spot With it being so tight, these next 5 games right across the board will have an impact on any one of the 5, poss 6 teams involved. Top 3 look to be sorted imo so I'd settle for a 6th or 5th finish. We seem to do better away from home so get the home leg out of the way. of course, we have to get there first. Its in our hands but this is Cardiff City so 15 pts from 5 games, although achievable looking at the fixtures, isn't likely. We all have a part to play too so if we can get the atmosphere for the last 3 home games up there with the Palace 2nd leg, thats half the battle done right there. One things for sure, its not going to be a dull end to the season again.
gotta love it siam whether we get the PO's or not, I'd much rather have something to play for with 5 games left rather than just seeing the season out
Excitement level is back to 80%, Cant wait for Watford tomorrow now win that and im already at the ticket office getting my Wembley tickets
A win tomorrow and we should make the play offs. Problem is we have to play Saturday and Monday while Reading and Brighton play Friday and Tuesday. Not a level playing field at this stage of the season.
Your also being hunted by the Foxes , especially with there goal difference better than the 3 mentioned ... tally-ho
Since Leicester have three away games including Ipswich and Leeds, and have to face West Ham at a stage when West Ham will really need a win, it will be difficult for them to catch up the 5 points, especially if we get the 3 points against Watford. If they did catch us, I would assume they must have picked up about 13-14 points and therefore deserve to make it. It is in our hands either way.
Afternoon all - first chance to log in today after that khaki underpants game yesterday. It's back to being down to us now, it wasn't until we beat Boro - I was not a happy bunny that we let our one time comfortable playoff position slip so badly. It's been said many times that no game is easy in this division, but the last 5 game run ins for the respective clubs concerned in the battle for 5th/6th spot certainly looks to favour us. Leicester, Hull and Leeds have a lot to do to get involved, though I would definitely not rule out any of them, Leicester in particular. After yesterday's wonderful result, the fact is that a playoff spot is once again ours to lose.
Just being a pedant Siam, but you can't get 14 points from 5 games. I'm with you though, they've got too many ponts to make up, I'm with those who think it's a 3 horse race. We need the 3 points tomorrow though. Another exciting end to a Bluebirds season.
i'm surprised no-one has actually talked about watford being pivotal (yes i know i've got yellow-tinted spectacles on). in all seriousness though if you remove hull, leeds, leicester, derby and us from the equation you've got yourselves, boro and brighton left. look back at the first post and you'll see they all have one team in common-us. we can in essence ruin it for one/more teams if we actually turn up on the day. out of those 3 teams i strongly believe we can ruin it for boro (last day, we're at home, they've got no momentum or good form whatsoever). we can ruin it for you should dyche choose to use the malky fiasco as motivation (although personally i think even with that in mind we still won't win). as for brighton away i'm going to that match so i'll be pretty peeved if we don't win. in all seriousness brighton looks a tough ask but we'd certainly do you a favour to remove boro from the chase as i think that's very do-able. just in case you haven't noticed as well your last game is at palace so let me spell it out for you. palace 'purposely' loses and their rivals don't get a play off place. palace boss is an eagles legend in the making with much love for them so it'll go down horribly if he made his team draw/win the game. not to mention palace aren't exactly on the best of forms... as much as i don't entirely like to say this (for many well-known reasons) you boys would deserve the final place looking at your overall season; i'd hate it if plastic brighton with their plastic fans got 6th and boro just bore me to death. none of their players look good anymore like they did at the start of the season. so in my eyes the place is yours to lose...
