I went to renew my season ticket yesterday and was told that card transactions were not working at the moment and the money would be taken from my account in a few weeks, by the end of May. Could this mean that the club have frozen accounts due to the imminent takeover or is the club just being useless again?

In general, my first reaction is always to believe the "cock-up theory", before the conspiracy one. You would think any business would be keep to get the money in asap. The only thing I could think of otherwise was, it would give any new owner the opportunity to increase season ticket prices before the bulk of these are purchased.
If I were you, I might hope it's the former.

I doubt if there is much goodwill, when football clubs are bought and sold, so it could well be the frozen option.
