http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-25223631 Good idea or not? I say not as I will no longer be able to dial 999 to report that my neighbour's tax disc is out of date.
It was always a grossly unfair tax, as it charged people who only occasionally used their cars exactly the same as those who drove thousands of miles every week.
Over here there is a way around that if you drive a vintage car, you're allowed a certain mileage per year so cheaper car tax,do they have similar in UK?
Could make a handy spare inside pocket if you attach the sticky side inside your jacket <getyourmoneysworth>
No bothered about whether or not they get rid if tax discs. What they should do is abolish doing ye fur a fine if it's not displayed. Their computer systems know whether or not yer road legal these days. My tax was due last month and as usual I forgot about it till the last minute and done it online. Spent 3 days expecting to get done while I waited on the disc coming through the post.
I used to have an Aston Martin DB5 which I only drove at weekends or at the track. I used to have to pay the full UK Road Tax on her, despite only clocking-up a very limited annual mileage. please log in to view this image
