Who would you like to see as our captain for next season from either our current squad or realistic transfers. Personally, would love to see Catts reinstated. Even when he's not wearing the armband he's bossing the team.

I'd be tempted to say Vito. I still don't trust Catts to play over half the games in a season. As you say he bosses the field when he plays. I'd leave it at that

Deffo NOT Catts. He gets sent off too much when he wears the arm band

Perhaps it was his age - he was too young at the time last time, but it was a mistake
He was TOO responsible and would make stupid decisions

Don't get me wrong - I like him. But he is better without the arm mans.

    Wes brown for me

It's a good point about Catts but he has to be givena chance for me. Poyet just has to sit down with him and have a word. Tell him he's giving him the armband but he's got to lead by example, that means keeping a clear head. Just let him know if the red mist descends that will be it coz we can't have a leader like that. Then if he does get himself a stupid red he knows exactly what to expect. As long as Catts understands the position it should be fine.

Vito probs vice captain for me although that's difficult because Pantilimon has clearly been given assurances when he joined that he would be able to make the number 1 shirt his if he played better, and he is a very decent keeper. So I don't really think we can give it Vito as it gives the wrong message to Pantilimon.

Not sure about Brown either, he's getting on and his pace is fading fast which got him into a bit of bother last season - he got sent off three times last season which (I believe?) is more than Catts has ever managed! I wouldn't want to be relying on Wes too much this season so he shouldn't get it either.

    John O'Shea? Please no.

Johnno the pissheed? Godshite Fletcher? I'm struggling here lads!

... Seb loves a good point and shout?

Seb could actually be a good captain, might drive him on for consistency as well.

    Still, Catts, 100%

That's an interesting one. I'd forgotten Seb resigned in all of this drama. Wonder which one turns up this year.

If it's the lad who finished the season with us he will be an utterly huge player for us.

Whenever Cattermole is mentioned, as captain, I picture .........

......... a player grinding his teeth as he rips off the armband before throwing it to a colleague and trudging down the tunnel <steam>

I don't find the captain position very significant, Catts will always talk to other players if he's the captain or not. As is the case with other players

Good point. I noticed Bridcutt shouting at the full-backs and bossing some of midfield around early on in the Hull game, after Wes had been sent off. He'd only been at the club a few weeks or so. I was impressed with his confidence as a newbie.

However with most others on this, Catts all the way.
