So, with the first 5 new players arrived, I would imagine any new arrivals would not really be a candidate for the captaincy (unless it's John Terry, but that's not very likely). So who should get the armband for the coming season?
Hayden Mullins every day- Pompey's unsung hero, does all the dirty work while the rest of the midfielders and strikers get all the credit. He has been at the club longer than Lawrence, and as Norris is brand new, making him captain in his first season at Fratton Park is not a smart move. I once met Hayden Mullins at Harrods- in my city London- and he seemed a nice guy; as far as I could tell, no-one in the whole of Harrods recognised him other than me !! Without doubt, Norris and Lawrence are outstanding players and we are lucky to have them, but for the captaincy armband I can't see either of them wearing it.
It's because Mulllins is the unsung hero he shouldn't be captain. The captain needs to be vociferous and wearing his heart on his sleeve (and please dont take that to mean I think Mullins is not passionate) and Mullins is just too quiet to be captain or a leader, but he is an essential team player.
i voted for Norris, although he has only just joined us he is obviously captain material having been captain at ipswich and also from the things he has been saying in the press he seems to really be up for this season and is likely to play most games. Mullins would have been my second choice but i totally agree with T-Rex.
Hermann Hreidarsson. Knows the club and probably his last season here. Norris vice-captain this year and takes captaincy on next year having spent a year getting to know the club.
