**** em. There's nowt like daubing on a bit of war paint and going all Wallace/Mel Gibson on them soft southern Fairies. **** em.
They are going to have to back it up now and then some. You can't make a statement like that and give anything less than everything you've got. We won't set up like we did against Man City, though; I think we'll try to take them on.
Meh. We'll have Clark or Lejune at the back so there's at least 2 for them. All while our best defender is out of the squad
If you're on about Mbemba, I'd like to see him more as well, but his potential lack of pace makes me wonder if this is the right league for him. Early in the season, he started a match at LB. He was beaten so badly and so often by the opposing RM that Clark began routinely sliding over to play LB, when addressing an attack, while Mbemba crossed over to fill the gap at LCB. At Old Trafford, Yedlin clearly released Sterling to Mbemba, but Sterling just raced right by and found the back of the net. In a recent match, Mbemba was holding a high line, say 5 - 10 yards from the center line, but the opposition easily got behind Mbemba.
His pace isn't really the problem. He just has poor awareness which I think is why Rafa doesn't pick him more often - he prefers disciplined players who do what they are told to do and make the system work.

He is rapid. Pace isn't an issue. I don't think his awareness is an issue either. He is more aware than Clark and Lejeune. The rumours were about his lack of english making communication a problem. I like him and Lascelles as a partnership, Rafa really made a great pair out of them in the season we went down, really turned our form around. Rafa doesn't rate him and that's that really. He will have his reasons and its of no consequence what we think because Rafa doesn't really go back to those he discards. Mbemba, MItrovic and Aarons would have been in my side.
You have some crazy memories of a season we went down. Mbemba looked great, only eclipsed by Mitrovic it would seem. Wish I could be arsed to drag up the match threads from that season.
Mbemba was good the season we went down. It was his partner coco the clown Coloccini who cost us weekly. Like Clark seems to be at the minute
Bizarre comment. I take it you didn’t watch the 10 games or so under Rafa? Mid table form. I’m sure there were at least 3 clean sheets, a 6 game unbeaten run that included the likes of Man C, Liverpool and Spurs. Yeah it’s me with the crazy memory...
I read some comments where he said what he's been trying to teach the team is how to solve problems on the pitch, effectively saying as much as he screams and shouts if they don't have the football brain to carry out what he asked of them all week in training, they're useless to him. It would explain why Gouff played such a big part last season, Mitro/ Mbemba didn't and why he was clearly fuming we were trying for Sturridge when he'd been asking for Slimani all window. Mentality is everything.
He was in some games, ****ing stupid in others. The defensive side of his game isn't really in question, it was slalom runs to nowhere and terrible decision making on passes that is. Dont get me wrong mind, genuinely like him as a player, see him for his flaws though.
To think, some people thought that making him captain last year was a mistake. Thank goodness Rafa doesn't shy away from making tough decisions.
