City have been seeded in tomorrow's Capital One Cup first round draw. CITY SEEDED IN CUP DRAW Posted on: Wed 13 Jun 2012 City have been seeded in tomorrow's Capital One Cup first round draw. The draw - to be made behind-closed-doors at Football League HQ at 9.30am tomorrow (Thursday) - has been split into north and south, seeded and unseeded categories. City find themselves amongst the southern seeds. In a twist, the first round matches will provide the curtain raiser to the new domestic season (week commencing August 13th), ahead of the start of the npower Championship campaign on August 18th. All Championship, League 1 and League 2 clubs will take part with the exception of the two highest placed clubs in last season's league tables (Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers). Both clubs will enter the competition along with 13 Premier League clubs at the second round stage. The seven Barclays Premier League clubs that have qualified for European competition - Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Newcastle United and holders Liverpool - will join the fray in the third round. Its about time we had a bit of a cup run, as we've been very poor over the past few years. The FA Cup is still the best but that's 6 months away and I'd settle for a couple of wins in this competition
championship teams are more than capable of getting to the final, and for once ( not saying i want city at wembely ) It would be nice if we go 4 or 5 games in to it
The league cup should give some first team games to the fringe players to see if they are there or there about to be first team players.
