He knows England are **** and have as much chance of winning anything as a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest - the Terry drama gives him an easy out
Once again, the overly intense media scrutiny on football has struck. Terry and Ferdinand should have discussed their issues man-to-man and left it private. The England camp should never have been aware of the rancour. Capello should never have been put in that position. It's getting to the point where I think the FA should ban journalists from football grounds if they're bringing the game into disrepute with their reports - we've witnessed Suarez/Evra, this, Joey Barton and countless other occasions where the press' fetishistic interest in footballing confrontations has made a mockery of the sport we love. I have no fondness for international football, the England team or Fabio Capello by the way, I just think that this situation was detrimental to all three.
Would agree with most of the things you have said Leeds-18, however, I would also suggest that the FA need to appreciate that when you appoint a manager, they must be allowed to manage and make the decisions that effect the football side of the team. Capello and the FA should have met in private and discussed any concerns over Terry and then allowed Capello to make the decision on whether he remains as captain or not, sadly they didn't and acted as if it was their decision and their decision only, effectively making Capello's position untenable.
Loooking at the big picture, it doesn't matter if it's Capello, Redknapp or my four year old in charge of England we aren't going to win anything with the current team. Terry should have been dropped yonks ago, nothing to do with his off field antics just the fact he's a liability on the pitch along with Cashinhand. There's one world class player in the team and that's Hart. Bunch of overpaid prima donnas who get found out every major tournament.
At the heart of ALL this shambles is TERRY. His "character" has been obvious for years and yet he has been allowed to take the highest honour for an England player. He was sacked once and was allowed back as leader of the national team ? His other well documented antics also point to a flawed character who should NEVER be allowed to wear the shirt again. Terry knows what he did on that day, so did those who saw the video (before it was "pulled" and doctored) No doubt his "defence" lawyer will produce "evidence" of his saintly client and get him the "correct verdict" Yet he continued to allow the debacle go on to its final conclusion. Well done Terry...your reputation will always be as it should be !!! I hope this spurs the England team, along with Stuart Pearce and Harry to produce a true relection of the team without the conflict that Terry would have brought to the team.
Maybe he resigned because he wants to become leeds manager... And Leeds-18 please log in to view this image
I missed you too Joshy baby. Is it time to start arguing about whether 9-12m is a sufficient budget yet?
I was thinking exactly the same, Terry is a disgrace for so many reasons, he shouldn't even be pulling on and England shirt not alone the captains arm band.
I agree with that, but the board of the FA's decision was ridiculous. The two acceptable alternatives for them to come up with were either no action, or to suspend him from playing for the team pending the outcome of the enquiry (and I'm not sure the second of those is appropriate before his trial). But telling Capello he can have the player in his squad but he's not allowed to be captain, it's just interfering. If the FA think it is acceptable for him to represent the country, then the manager should be the one to decide whether he's captain or not. Can you imagine the outrage if Bates started interfering with the manager's job here...
