After his performance yesterday against Gillingham, which looked to me like a player showcasing himself to potential buyers, I believe we should sell if we can get anywhere near to 40m. We can't afford to have a player who thinks he is too good for the club undermining our season ahead. Last season he was a big part of our screwing up the start to the Championship campaign; this season the same thing is in danger of happening, with the difference that the Prem is much more unforgiving to teams who fall behind the pack.

If Cantwell is as supremely talented as he believes he is, he will be playing in the Champions League three years from now. If not, he'll be playing for Crystal Palace. If he moves on, he takes the risk, not NCFC.

For a newly-promoted club, two players for 15-20m who think it is a privilege to play for a club in the Premier League is more useful than a 40m player who believes he's slumming it.

The contrast in attitude between him and Max is enormous.

Todd has admitted the speculation got to him last summer, and effected how he trained and how he played. Listening to him recently, I think he also recognises that his response wasn't the way to go about things. Him and Farke do seem to have a good relationship, I'd like to believe he's learned from that experience and will "ignore the noise" this summer. It helps that he'll be playing Premier League football regardless. I think whilst you could attribute his excellent performance yesterday to "playing for a move", equally it could be a player who believes he's Premier League quality being determined to show it for his boyhood club. If he's still here in September, I guess we'll see.

£40m would be a good price for him, but only if we can reinvest it smartly this window. The league starts in 10 days, there's under a month left in the window, and we're already in danger of a slow start whilst we integrate new players. Ripping another key cog from our attacking midfield isn't going to help that. If his attitude is right, I'd rather keep him until January and plan for his departure then, than sanction it this summer.

Can we find an attacking midfielder of a similar quality to Cantwell, who can get up to speed with Farkeball and the Premier League almost immediately, in the time remaining?

I think we would be pulling their pants down for £40m. There’s no way he is worth £15m more than Maddison was.

Then again, they’re getting an even more ludicrous sum of money for Grealish, so they probably won’t care too much.

I think he’s a good player and contributes to our attack well. Probably worth around £20m-£25m. Our team will be weaker without him, so if we sell then we need to replace.

I worried when Maddison left, but it let others shine. Now Buendia has gone i'm expecting others to step up and fill the void. Perhaps Cantwell was stepping up. Could be a massive season for him.

If solid bids over £30m come in for Cantwell or Aarons they will be sold we have to accept that we are a selling club.

Which is a great advertisement for our academy and other very young talents will be more likely to join us than one of the big clubs where they don't get anywhere near the first team .

World class potential talents like Skipp and Gilmore come here knowing that Farke isn't afraid to play them if they are good enough .

I believe Tod has one year left on his contract and we have the option to extend next summer by another year so potentially if he doesn't commit to a new contract his value will massively decrease next season .

If he refuses to extend his current contract sell him imho

If we could get £40m for Cantwell that could potentially give us enough money to go for Skipp as well as Sargent and Tzolis.
