Speaking for myself, you'd think so, seeing as the kicking started in Mexico 1970, 2-0 up vs West Germany and you know the rest. But no, for some bizarre reason the flame of hope flickers every time an English team strings 3 passes together in an international tournament. I wish it wouldn't actually, but it does. Someone once said "I can cope with despair. It's the hope that kills me." As for Bayern, they're a bit static and slow to react at the back, and they kept running out of ideas in the final 3rd last night. Only a fool would write off Chelsea, though John Terry really hasn't helped his team, the dickhead.

I said I was going to back Bayern at the end of the group stages. Did I? Did I ****. Wonderful side - perfectly balanced and I thought their centre halves were brilliant over the last few rounds and they're combined age is only about 40 or 41 or some ****. Their midfield is so well balanced and they have three or four squad players in midfield that are as good as their first picks - Chelsea are on a high, though. I'm well looking forward to the game.
