I'm prob in the minority here but I think Hughes picked the right team today apart from swp! I really thought we'd nick it when mackie came on.
I thought we might got something at ht. the sending off played right into their hands. Annoyingly he had won the free kick.
Right team maybe but people will definitley argue the tactics were wrong although we were only 5 mins away from a point.
M'Bia cost us the game, nothing to do with Hughes. He should really get a massive fine and ear-bashing. The only thing MH did wrong was put Mackie on too late.
Looked like we were on target to get an away point at the Emirates. Not to be! I'll stand with you inkedupp. Expecting much more for the next three games now.
Agree with all of this. MH is now faced with changing his two CB's once again; just as we were getting a run of games for them. Very disappointed, and disgusted, with Mbia's petulance and lack of self control!
I totally disagree. In the first half, Bosingwa WASTED 2 open crosses, and kept putting in short throw-ins at the right corner that went to waste, and he couldn't track back. It wasn't SWP's fault. In fact, SWP ran well to keep hassling Santos, who just happened to get lucky as we wasted great crossing chances. To get off Bosingwa's back, he did better in the 2nd with a couple of good blocks.
Now THAT's what I've been saying all season - RUN @ and PAST the defenders. Just RUN @ GOAL, for crying out loud. It IS possible. Thank you Jamie for always showing the way. I hope the team learns something from that fantastic run.
I have been making the same point for a while now. The players have to start taking some responsibility for our performances. I see loads of threads bashing MH but very few having a deserved pop at our players. Quite simply, they are a bunch of overpaid and overhyped idiots. MH has not covered himself in glory by any means but lets start putting a bit of balance on this whole MH out argument. Our players consistently under perform. Some of them are not as good as we think they are. No real energy, no real enthusiasm, no real effort, just plodding along.
Thanks for this thread, feel slightly less miserable after reading it! If we'd lost 3 nil, we'd have all shrugged our shoulders and said, 'well, it is Arsenal'. Instead it is yet another nearly moment. UNless those nearly moments turn in favour and NOW, we are relegation certs. As for Mbia, what an idiot!! You have WON the free kick. They have to start taking their fair share of the blame bob. I'm not necessarily talking about the game today. We consistently talk about the quality players we have in Adel, Granero, Diakite, Jnr etc etc.. You can dress it up anyway you want, but these players are not delivering. I'm resigned to the fact that MH has turned out to be an expensive gamble that does not seem to be working. MH deserves the stick he is getting but again I say, our players seem to be escaping their share of the criticism.
