http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/five-key-cardiff-city-mistakes-9217537 This journalist is intelligent and knowledgeable enough to speak with some authority, and his comments by and large are both justified and accurate. Anybody here have any views on what he states?
seems he`s been down 2 a game or two over the last couple of seasons ninian dude..........what I can gather from other people`s views, is that he`s not far off also i wouldn't have seen our lovely miss church standing up for whats right either if I hadn't have read your post ninian>>>>cheers for that brother.
Aligns pretty much with what has ben said on this board. (though not in the last few days as there doesn't seem to be anyone about). Slade (or other) needs to pick a game plan (hopefully that involves playing some football) and then sign players to fit the game plan, or take the key players we have and shape a style around those, churning players to suit that style. Hoofball or silky football, everyone needs to be on the same page and all the players need to suite the game plan.
Learn from your cousins the jacks on how to build a successful club....you cant cut corners thinking it will get you to the premiership, It takes time starting with the Board and a chairman who knows a good side cant be rushed and has a good eye for unfashionable manager in the making. Set a budget and stick to it in the early days. We are proof that you can in our case reach rock bottom but with a good plan you can end up 8th maybe 7th best team in England and wales earning millions every season. Follow teams like the QPR's and no disrespect yourselves then your not going to go far and will be stuck as nearly men.....Follow the Swansea philosophy just like some other clubs are doing and slowly build a winning formula and in 3-5 seasons you could be as good as us.....
Bournemouth did it the Swans way. Even went bust first. Would happily follow the softly softly approach, skipping step one!
Not an option until the debt has been turned into equity. If I was equity he'd have to sell or lose his money. As it sill appears to be loans, he could send us under.
Thats fair. I wonder if the FA have some kind of rules to prevent things like this happening as Tan promised to convert your loans to equity years ago.
swansea fans have short memories. They have a huge financial stain on their CV, and consciences. http://www.footballforums.net/showt...CVA-Swansea-City-AFC-Are-Now-Financially-Safe Took the easy way out, left local businesses unpaid and then when they got financially safe, years later they paid themselves huge dividends http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/apr/08/swansea-halo-owners-windfall
There was nothing easy about the situation we were in mate. 'Years later they paid themselves huge dividends, yet in the years prior they took absolutely no wage from the club whatsoever'. Extended it for you. If I was the direct result of building a company up from nothing to making millions profit, I too would reward myself with a hefty dividend. Especially considering I built it up for years while working for free.
In the grand scheme of things neither Cardiff or Swansea are big cities when compared to the likes of London, Birmingham, Manchester or Leeds etc nor are they big clubs when compared to the top five plus Liverpool. Historically we have competed with the likes of West Ham, Stoke, Southampton etc. as we Swans are doing now. It was nothing to be proud of to go into administration but as it turned out it was a godsend. It enabled local and outside business men with the club at heart and 11 years of hard slog to get where we are now. Hopefully this progression on and off the field will continue. These businessmen got rid of Petty who was our Tan. To say the supporters have no say is wrong as the Trust in Swansea have a 20% stake and opposed the recent interest from American investors. It is arrogant of some Cardiff supporters to think you are big enough to buy success like the owners of Chelsea and Manchester City have. You simply do not have the potential. It is a shame and I do not mean this in a nasty way that you did not go into administration a few seasons ago as you could have rebuilt from scratch as we and Bournemouth have done. It would be good to see Tan go and the club being taken over by people who care and the supporters having more of a say. Because I am Welsh I always take an interest in Wales and the Welsh clubs and unlike some, although I still always want to finish above you, would take no pleasure in seeing you slide down the leagues.
I wouldn't want my club to be like Chelsea or Man City. Far from it. City had their chance last season but blew it as they did not have the people with sufficient football industry acumen, experience and skill to survive and flourish in the top league. I doubt that they ever will have such an opportunity again, such belief bolstered by the continued incorrect decisions taken by the club such as the appointments of Solskjaer and Slade, the transfer dealings last season and the lack of trust between the owner and the fans, not east when he has failed to honour his pledge to take equity.
I don't think cardiff were prepared for the huge difference between championship and premiership football last time, Most clubs who come up are not prepared tbh and end up going straight back down. In cardiffs case it don't help having a chairman/owner who don't understand football and is far to concerned in buying up other clubs all over the world...The guy is your worst enemy and the main reason you cant reach your goal and be a success at it......
Ultimately Tan will have to take responsibility for the poor performance this season. He has employed people who, as he sees it, would do the job that is needed. Slade's mandate appears to have been cut the wage bill (to satisfy FFP rules) but don't get us relegated. I believe the "challenge for promotion" mantra was for the fans, because nobody wants their club issuing negative statements when they bring in a new manager. Most, if not all, city fans were underwhelmed when Slade was appointed and many want him gone (myself included), however, I believe he has done the job Tan assigned him and will get a crack at moving the team forward next season. It hasn't been pretty, mixed messages from the club, dire football on the pitch and a manager whose sound bytes are hiding the poor performances on the pitch. I still hope Tan as someone in the wings coming in to replace Slade but as we creep slowly to the new season, this hope diminishes.
