On this one there will be 10 candidates, you can have 2 votes and the 2 highest percentages will get the centre half pairing in our WFC dream team ...

My 10 would be the following below, If you feel that we should drop one for someone else then let me know and I will try and be as fair as possible! (I feel sure I have made a great big glaring error and missed a true legend)

Note: If you do want someone in the poll, please say who you also think should be dropped (it does need to be someone you would vote for to make the change worthwhile though)

    The candidates:

    1/ Martin Taylor
    2/ John McClelland
    3/ Robert Page
    4/ Jay DM
    5/ Ian Bolton
    6/ David Holdsworth
    7/ Keith Millen
    8/ Steve Sims
    9/ Steve Terry

10/ I have left a space for an older generation Centre half that the more experienced supporters might like to add in? :emoticon-0100-smile

This may be the last poll for a week or so, I am away with work and not yet sure if I will get internet access on a regular basis... I will be back to finish the final dream team soon though ..

As a solid performer who played in a championship winning side (Div. 3 1968-69), then I would suggest we add Brian Garvey - if only to see his name included.

I still have vivid memories of the crack heard all around Gresty Road when he broke Wallace of Crewe Alexandra' s leg from behind!

Vince McNeice was also someone who could have played at a much higher level.

Keith Eddy also played central defender but is probably best known for a role that is now known as a holding midfielder.

BTW they're spelled Steve Sims and John McClelland.......

    Simple this one I reckon.

    Bolton and McClelland.

Plenty of good names there, but I would want these two without doubt.

What about the 'Prof' if for nothing other than his song? LOL! Still remember the game at St.Andrews on Easter Monday right at the start of the amazing run that took us into the 99-00 playoff's when he was absolutely brilliant alongside Millen. That carried on for most of the run-in and final. Happy days!!

In hindsight I couldn't put him above any of the others or the ones that have been added above. Wanted to put him in here though for reminiscence value alone.

At the moment Alan Garner has 2 votes and will be added to the poll, unless someone comes back with a better option ...
I will start the poll later on tonight .

That's because he is aptly named - built like a brick dunny and plays like one too.

That has to be the best comment EVER on this board ..... built like a brick dunny ........

Of all of the players John McClelland was class on day 1 and class on the last day. He was the most consistent centre half we have ever had. When you consider anyone could play alongside him and look half decent (even Mark Morris!!!!!!!). Yeah I could accept Ian Bolton (for the goals and passes) alongside him, either him or if you wanted a big man you could go fro Sims or Terry.

So it's McClelland and Bolton for me.
