I think Ruddy has been excellent, one or two poor games aside. Russell Martin has been consistently good at right back and centre-half. Kept out of the former by an often impressive Kyle Naughton. Whitbread has been decent since heâs been in the starting 11 and would definitely be a contender if heâd been there all season. Midfield has been shuffled a lot. I couldnât even say who the player with the most appearances in the middle is. Fox, Surman & Hoolahan have all been noticeably good. Howson looked good against Newcastle and could be our most potent threat from that area for the rest of this season. Up front Steve Morison has done very well, even if he occasionally looks like he canât control a football very well. Holt, though, would be my player of the season. Not only has he done what we all knew he could do very well, he has scored some clever, inventive goals that require a deft touch. Needless fouls aside, heâs been a great player and something of a symbol of what the club is about (including when he wasnât in the side) all season, so far.
I personally think its between Ruddy and Holt. Cant see anyone other than Holty getting Player of the season though!
cant believe anybody but Ruddy will get it, he has saved one hell of a lot more than Holty has scored and has kept us in games allowing Holty and co to get us the points. Always have liked Ruddy and he def gets my vote!
I'm biased as a former keeper myself, and the fact that I championed JR through his early, difficult times and now he's made me look very clever at picking him out in the first place! I love Holty to bits, he's the nearest living creature to 'Roy of the Rovers' but for me, it's definitely John Ruddy!
Ruddy will do for me, Whitbread running him close. Trouble is you get silly votes and end up with Lee Croft winning it just because he scored against the Binners so I expect Holt to win it just because of who he is rather than what he's done.
whitbread has been fantastic this season, as has surman who made a slow start but has been very influential. pilkington has done really well as pretty much everyone has but the two stand out performers for me have been ruddy and holt. i think ruddy will get it but my vote will go to holt who has, yet again, proven what character he has and what a talented footballer he is.
Forster got loads of votes a couple of years ago, also they who shall not be named voted a loanee as their pos last year after he only played about 14 games for them!
If that's the case then my vote goes to Naughton, with Holt a close 2nd,and Ruddy 3rd. But to be perfectly honest anyone of our entire squad could win it and I would agree. I don't think the "Lee Croft" fiasco will happen again. What a **** up that was.I am sure the guy was embarrassed himself.
For me Ruddy has had an excellent, if unspectacular season, very very rarely letting us down and he can be very proud of how he has performed. What I mean by "unspectacular" is that I don't recall him winning MoM all that often because he hasn't really had to. He has been steadily brilliant all year, and has given the rest of the defence confidence in him - however he won't be getting my vote and for me personally it's between Holt, Whitbread and Naughton with Ruddy and Pilkington just outside the top three. Of course only one man can win it and for the simple fact he's proved all the doubters wrong yet again and is currently the second highest English goalscorer in the PL - including goals against Liverpool, Chelsea and United - means that man just has to be Grant Holt
I agree John has had an incredible season and really deserves POS, but he won't get it, holt will I have absolutely no doubt. Last season I really thought Russ deserved it he had a monumental season last year, but people will always vote for holt.
It's Holts, but once again plenty of people to choose from. Ruddy and R.Martin would be close runners up.
What if its a draw? Belgium. Bloody Belgium. Smurfs, Plastic Bertrand, Stella (I'm pissed and fight anyone to prove it) Artois, Poirot, capital city ends in twerp. I'd rather live in Ipswich!
