..is on again this year. For the 4th year running the club have kindly agreed to support you in your literary efforts, and have promised to print the 3 most worthy, in a New Year match day programme (I´m wondering if we actually run to a 5th year, whether they´ll invite the three chosen onto the pitch , not that I´ve suggested it mind, but ................) so hopefully we´ll have a bit of fun in December, when the official thread for entries goes up. I dare say this news may cause a few groans but hopefully the anti-poetry lobby will bear with us, for this annual event. So get your pencils and your wits sharpened in readiness. rbf This is now the official thread so please feel free. * Deadline for entries is Christmas Eve at 10 pm * and we´re concentrating on the present and the future, so please, no references to either Paul Lambert or A.Villa, thanks
Time for some Jack D to free up the brain cells!! It's time for a comp in verse Rhyming can cause some to curse But we will all have a go Entries welcome from friend and foe I think mine will be worst! Plenty of coat getting to be done in December!
Oh the idiots on match of the day, Have nothing of value to say, Hansen is blunt And Lawro's a ....... I'd rather we had Peter Kay.
Chris Hughton has brought a new code Of defending to our Carrow Road, We cannot go wrong WithTettey and Bassong And Garrido all sharing the load!
Chris Hughton, a man with no fear, Has improved our team from last year Our strengthened defence Just makes perfect sense! Opponents now have to beware.
Good one RBF. Appreciate your effort with this each Xmas. I have a feeling we'll have a good sack load this year
When beating the Ar*e and Manure With tactics and football so pure The effort was great Wenger & Fergie to frustrate And we'll stay in the Premier for sure!
Good God, is it that time again? To reach for the keyboard or pen I've never come first But it gives me a thirst And a poetic itch - d'ye ken!
This wasn´t intended to be the official Canary Limerick Challenge thread, but alright, as Dave or Maestro has ´stuck´ this, then so be it, but I won´t cheat you for the intro that I had already prepared... There are so many forms of verse you know To do as Shakespeare did is one of those, But in this challenge, one only´s on show And I´m sure you all know just how it goes, A limerick will have when it´s complete Only five lines in which to tell a tale, And in a way that can be quite a feat So maybe best after a jug of ale, And the best three when it is judgement time Will find themselves at Carrow Road anon, And there within a programme placed so prime Will be on view in all of their aplomb, So everyone is welcome on this thread Whether you be in Melbourne or in Diss, Write any ´Canary´ thoughts in your head To all good luck, and I´ll leave you with this.. There once was a fella called Hughton Born neither in Bradford nor Luton And only one sport Ever filled his thoughts And No! it weren´t fishin´or shoot´n Right! over to you, and I look forward to reading more of the same **Just one final thing, my contact at the club has asked me to ask you, to concentrate on the present and future and not on the past, and therefore not refer to either Paul Lambert or A. Villa, and I totally second that.** Deadline for entries Christmas Eve 10 pm and all the best rbf
Chris Hughton came East from the Blues To give us a light of the fuse At first it burned slow But now here we go Canaries who win more than lose
There is a small Irishman called Wessi Who some say is much better than Messi He's a wizard on grass In the dribble or pass He's surprised me I have to confessi.
There are already some quality ditties on here RBF. I don't think I'll hold onto top spot again this year if the standard is this high! Here goes anyways: Norwich City, united we stand, Looking forwards we hope to expand, All manner of noise, Induced by the boys, Who model the yellow n green brand.
In Houghton we know we can trust, That our team will be far more robust, We've sent Arsenal packing, And gave Man U a whacking, We'll leave others trailing in our dust.
There was a young man from E7 Was a full back in the old Spurs eleven His skills as a coach So far beyond reproach Orchestrates the Canaries like Previn
You could scour the American Prairies Or on the streets of Buenos Aires But you never will find A team so refined As Chris Hughton's beloved Canaries
