As per my recent tradition, here's the match thread starter-for-ten and I'll fill the rest in later... I will just say it's another cup final for us, not one to take for granted at all, but certainly a very good chance show real intent to our promotion rivals and plant one foot firmly in the top two should results go our way. COME ON YOU YELLAS!!!!!
Much as a show of intent would be nice, I'll settle for the scrappiest win ever. 3 points are vital! The Boro-Watford game is a win-win for us, no result will fail to help us, except perhaps a large Boro winning margin.
I'd love to see a comfortable win, as that would send a clear message to the other teams around us. I'd settle for a hard fought 1-0 though!!
Meeting an old mate before the game tomorrow and we intend to have a pint or three beforehand. Can anyone recommend a pub on Riverside where it's ok to wear footy shirts and jeans ?
Only downside is it gets absolutely packed, especially from about 1.30. I've started going to the Glasshouse just down from Tombland, better choice of beer and still Wetherspoons. You get quite a few in there wearing NCFC shirts and about a 15 minute walk to the ground.
Top of the tree tomorrow with a slice of luck. Piss poor thread again Munky but who cares you are lucky.
I generally go to the bar in the cinema - not a great selection of beer but at least you can get served when you want rather than having to fight your way through folks drinking and standing at the bar.
if your not that bothered about your surroundings the bowling alley has a nice little bar also, along with a handful of cracking pool tables, reasonable selection of beers to, personally i always find you get served quite quickly in Iceni if you go to the right hand end of the bar near the kitchen entrance and seating area seems best, its my local actually as i live virtually on riverside, horse for course though
Too right - used to be an integral part of my match day experience Beats all this balti pie bollux! Anyone remember the long-lost away fans pub on the left just before you crossed Carrow Bridge?
the pub actually on carrow rd bridge junction with king st? i think the kingsway? i thought that was a home supporters pub, no wonder there was always trouble in there Wasnt the Clarence harbour the away supporters pub?
Good call, tyf, that's the one. In fact, this is the one (or rather, it was...R I P) I think the Clarence took over as the away pub after this was bulldozed to make way for £1m+ riverside apartments. Thank god the club still own Read's flour mill! please log in to view this image
Crikey, most of those pubs have disappeared and are now houses/flats!!!! The away supporters pub is the Compleat Angler by the river on Prince of Wales. Other pubs used by home fans - The Coach and Horses on Thorpe Road, or the Wig and Pen by the Cathedral. One thing in favour of the Queen of Iceni, is it's usually a cracking atmosphere and you tend to get a few away fans in there as well. They usually do a decent hot dog for £2 if you get 'the munchies' before the game - and of course the beer's cheap!!!
I remember walking to the ground before a Villa match and some of the away fans in the Kingsway had had too much cooking lager, got gobby and started throwing glasses at us - oblivious to the fact they were made of cheap plastic!
Well I'll be in The Queen of Iceni from about 1:00PM wearing a 1980s retro pinstriped City shirt and jeans with a tear in the right knee should anyone wish to introduce themselves
Well, I won't be there tomorrow, but will be there for the Boro game from about 5pm, so I can get fish and chips and a beer. I have our manager's name on my shirt (it's also my name!!!)
