Cana is currently playing for Galatasaray in Turkey after Sunderland surprisingly sold the midfielder last summer. The 27-year-old joined Sunderland in the summer of 2009 from Marseille and he impressed during his stay at Wearside. Cana was made club captain at the Stadium of Light and his departure came as something of a shock following his impressive debut campaign for the Black Cats. The Albanian international is thought to be keen on returning to England as he wants another crack at life in England. The news is believed to have alerted a number of clubs to Cana's availability and they are ready to offer him a route back to the Premier League. .
Eh! I thought the whole move away was a homesickness issue! He was brilliant when he first arrived and then he looked pretty average later on. I'm not sure he has the energy for a full premier league season.
Why did he leave? I honestly cant remember! But if he left us so easily once I doubt he would want to come back to us. Also, I'm not a big fan of re-signing players. (Althou8gh it did work in the cases of Pop Robson and Paul Bracewell) x
Exactly never take a player back (McCartney comes to mind) Cana too hot headed and we ahve Catts for that
Most definitely would have him back. Toss Gibson aside and pursue Cana I say. His partnership with Catts was something to behold. Not the most attacking by any means, but dont forget he could slot in at defence when needed, and had a crunching (but fair) tackle on him (no jokes please). Bruce lured him here in the first place, we've improved season on season since he left, surely he might fancy another go here? Annoyingly I could see him going somewhere like Stoke/Blackburn more realistically however.
I liked Cana, but as has already been said, the issues which made him leave last time will still be lurking.
I personally thought he would've been excellent second season - he struggled with the lack of a break at xmas which he was used to and went downhill second half of the season but he looked superb in the first half of the season and I had high hopes. Although, as has been mentioned above, I though he moved to be closer to home rather than anything else?? Decent player but not for a return to us for me as he burned his bridges by asking for a move - if he did want a return it would signal his reason for a move as complete bullshit IMO
Sorry Marcus disagree with that one some times people get home sick and then realise that they were happy where they where. Wouldn't be sure if I'd want him back, but saying that don't think that he can be compared to McCartney as I was shocked when he came back, didn't think he was that good after he left us.
Didn't he leave cos his bird couldn't get a visa or some toss? Has he got a new lass? Not for me thanks, wehave Catts, Colback and Meyler, we have no need for him. Loved him at the time mind.
This. I thought he had a good start to the season and him and Catts got a cany partnership going, he kind of fizzled out for the second half of the season and ditched us as soon as he could. No thanks.
He used to live in the same apartment building as me, and he smelt magnificent. His bird was outrageous. These are not reasons to re-sign the lad, just casual observations..
I loved Cana and was gutted when he left but he did and it was his choice to do so. Did I want him to go? Absolutely not. Would I have him back. Same answer. I think Jack Colback is the man for that role next season and with Catts, Gardener, Vaughan (maybe in the next few weeks) and Larsson, we are covered in that area and not forgetting young David Meyler who is to return after injury. Also, I dont think he is mentally prepared for the rigours of the EPL, physically yes, but not in his head.
Far too good looking. I actually caught my bird at the time watching the lads on Sky one day without me pestering her to do so. I thought she was trying to impress me. Was she ****.
He was a cracking player mind. Not many two footed midfielders about. Not on the ball mind, just diving in for tackles
