It's coming up to my lads 6 th birthday and I always gets a town kit. This year he wants a Newcastle kit cos " Ipswich are rubbish ". The wifes family are geordies . Do I force him to support the town or get him what he wants. He has been to a couple of games but there are getting less and less young ins wanting to wear Itfc colours. A worry for the future

If you can afford it I would suggest getting both and trying to say something along the lines of how it may be bad currently but support isnt always about following the best current run of results. Obviously not in them terms and at 6 it may not work but that would be my idea.

At least he has chosen Newcastle who he has a family tie with rather than Man City or Chelsea.

I don't blame him at all....

My son has always been a United (Man) fan, we have been up around 8-9 times to watch them.

He is now 13 & this year he wanted a Town kit instead of United, probably cos it looks like a table cloth..!

What I am getting at is he always had/has a Town season ticket as they are real cheap for younguns so he goes every week, he does support both Town & United, this seems to be the way of things for a lot of youngsters these days, watch the local team but also follow a team in the prem. I don't really have an issue with this TBH, it's just how things are these days, he gets dissapointed with Town losing most weeks but least he gets a boost from United winning most weeks...!

Talk to him about how Bobby Robson took Newcastle back to the glory days - but only with what he started at Ipswich.

Explain to him that Bobby Robson would be proud of him wearing a Newcastle kit and get it for him this time but how we don't give up when things are not going how we want. Explain that only two years ago Newcastle were relegated themselves.

The lad is only six so get him what he wants, don't make him wear a Town kit if he'll feel embarrassed it would be an awful feeling for a six year old...

    oh and tell Simon Clegg.

My eldest who I brain washed at an early age and who has been a match day mascot and had trials for the Town academy has now decided that he wants an Aston Villa top for his birthday! <yikes>

Sounds as though we could do with all your kids on the park! Do a lot worse than the current lot! Bring them on I say...and yes, of course give the lad at 6 his chosen colours. By the time he is 20 Town will be in Southern league and we shall all just have misty-eyed memories of what was once a glorious period of Ipswich footie. 1970's-1980's.

The stupid thing is that by and large with a new CB and another goal hungry striker we have one of the potential best squads in the league, surely? Results and performance could change with more confidence - no, I dreamt that and just woke up having seen my great Auntie pulling off a magnificnet save between the sticks...and she's a kiwi!

Chin up you lot, and keep up our support.<ok>

The thing is Gaffer you aren't far wrong, everybody can see it apart from the useless tools on the training ground and boardroom! thats why we need a major restructure in the boardroom at Portman Road!

Just as well I don't spend as much time on here as you do on our board, perhaps we should get YOU a Yellow and Green kit?
